1HEALTH INFORMATICS
As per the goals of Vision 2030, the primary aim of Saudi Arabia is to reduce the
countries dependencies on its natural resources and increase the strength of the country by
improving health, education and other fundamental sides (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 2018).
The goal of the Vision 2030 is to advance the healthcare delivery system and make the
processes within the care system transparent and effective in every aspect. Further, it also aims to
develop and implement government regulations, legislations so that healthcare quality could be
improved (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 2018). In the first article ‘Crossing the Quality Chasm: A
New Health System For The 21st Century’ there are six aspects of health improvements has been
mentioned and these are helpful in making healthcare advancement and implement built the core
of a quality healthcare process (Baker, 2001). These six aspects are safety, effectiveness, patient
centered, timely, equitable and efficient care. These are the aspects if included in the healthcare
related vision of vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia, and then the patients and their needs will be
addressed with quality care, medication and supervision (Baker, 2001). Further the care system
will become safe, reliable and they will be able to attain healthcare through attainable, integrated
and easily available quality treatments. Besides this, the healthcare professionals will be able to
work in a stress free and satisfactory situation which will decrease the burnout and they will be
able to comply with the healthcare process (Baker, 2001).
On the other hand, the article ‘To Err Is Human: Building A Safer Health System’
provided a detailed idea of healthcare informatics related errors due to which the effectiveness of
the care process decreases (Kohn, Corrigan & Donaldson, 2000). This article discusses about the
four type of errors which are generally faced by the healthcare professionals and these are
diagnostic errors, preventive errors, treatment related errors and other errors such as
communication errors, equipment related failure and systematic failure. Therefore, if this

discussion was a part of vision 2030, the healthcare informatics system of Saudi Arabia would
have been error free and healthcare quality could have been sustained (Kohn, Corrigan &
Donaldson, 2000). However, the barriers to these goals of vision 2030 is both internal and
external. Due to lack of professionals who are trained with such informatics system, it would
require time to make the system part of the healthcare system and hence, education and training
is require prior to implementation of informatics within healthcare of Saudi Arabia (Kohn,
Corrigan & Donaldson, 2000).
