INTRODUCTION
Corporate social responsibility is the whereby the companies start the social and
environment concerns in their daily business operations and complete their interactions with
their company’s stakeholders. It is a way in which the company achieve its objective by
marinating the balance in between social, environmental and economic environment of the
market. On the same side this help in completing the expectations of the all stakeholders of
the company (Bice, 2015). A proper implementation of the company’s CSR policy will
provides lots of benefits like competitive advantage, increased the sale and profits, help in
solving the operational cost issues and etc. For this assignment the chosen company is SC
Johnson’s, founded in Racine, USA in1886. The company’s founder was Samuel Curtis
Johnson. And from then to now S.C. Johnson is spreading worldwide by providing the
services to their customers. This assignment includes company’s CSR policies detail,
company’s achievement in meeting the environmental ambitions. Human right policies and
practices and their activities in the environment.
MAIN BODY
P1 assess the impact of SC Johnson’s CSR policy and evaluate its initiatives on
environmental and sustainable development activities
SC Johnson’s CSR policy will impact a good image in the market. As it gives the
long-term partnership, dedicated employee who gives their best to achieve the objective, life
changing innovation will gives a long term impact the companies in a positive way.
SC Johnson initiate the company’s process by lighten the company’s product, decrease the
carbon foot print products and add the good values product in respect to serve the customers
something healthy, safe and flourishing the products for the coming generations (Crowther,
2018). As they are taken lots of initiative to reduce their carbon prints, cut down the waste
production and recycle the products. These initiatives are explained in detail:
Reducing Foot prints: From the fiscal year 2018/19, they are using renewable
resources to providing their facilities all over the world. In this year approx.32%
renewable energy is used by the company and apart from this Greenhouse gas
emission were reduced to 62%. And in 2021 they are planning for the implementing
the renewable electricity power plant in their all production units. Another way to
reducing their footprints is to reduce the waste of the production industry which they
are utilised through landfills.

Using recycled material: The initiative taken by them is using minimum amount of
post-consumer-recycled that can be used in the new development of the products
(Curran, 2017). To achieve this company is using high standard targets for the
employees which they have to achieve in the specific time.
Protecting the world’s forest: For the next generation use, Forest protection is being
a new and major focusing area. For this they make a project for about 17 years to
conserve the forest. They are not only conserving them but also planting new plants
for improving the conditions of the forest. By 2025, company’s all oil palm based raw
material is 100% certified for their next generation.
Centre for health workers: They are opening the centres for keeping their workers
healthy and stay their workers able to complete the work. In the pandemic of 2020,
Covid-19 they are supporting a lot and open their centre for the isolation wards and
supporting the government. Also they encourage the talented people in their company
and make them motivated, welcome all the time for any new and innovative idea by
any of the staff.

achievements for completing its goal towards environmental and sustainability ambitions
SC Johnson is achieving various stages in the context of environmental and
sustainability ambitions as from the starting they are setting milestones for the company and
after getting the achievement in the company they are awarded the employees. There
recognition and achievements are listed below:
The US Environmental protection agency (EPA), recognised the SC Johnson
company on its national top 100 lists. This list is based on the companies who are
using largest green power user in the nation (Duff, 2017).
In 2016, the company is recognised and motivated by the government for using
approx. 78 Million KW-hours for the uses of green power energy annually.
Company got the ranked top 30 in the Environmental protection agency, for the using
on site generation list. Which actually includes those company who are generating
and consuming the green power energy within the green power partnership.
Another biggest achievement is at the closing of the financial year 2019-20, 100% of
the SC Johnson factories sent their waste manufacturing products to the landfill.
WHO provides a report in 2019, where they show the data of funding given by the SC
Johnson company for the universal help.

In 2020, the centre for climate and energy solutions gives the climate leadership
award to the respected company for using the greenhouse gas management in the

chain
One of the major challenges which is faced by the multinational companies like SC
Johnson with across the border facilities is to maintain the compliance with human rights and
workforce legislation and their ethical standards. The SC Johnson uses its policies and
practices on human rights by using its supply chain. They keep the transparency in their
supply chain as they believe in that people should aware about the products which they are
serving to their customers. SC Johnson does its business in all over the world, so they are
committed to the customers and supporting the human rights, by following the legal laws and
regulation and contributing positive changes in the society and they are focusing on reducing
the company’s impact on the environment. Company make a code of conduct for the
suppliers, there other business partners related to the good quality product supply in the
company so that they can make the good quality products for the customers.
Suppliers are expected to make a coordination with all the laws and regulation in
national or local government in relation to human rights, labour and employment. The rules
are that no supplier do discrimination with the employees on the ground of age, colour, sex
and any other factor. And also no employee shall be subject to commit any unethical work
related to the customers or any other employee in the company (Örtenblad, 2016). Suppliers
will act under the accordance of acts; compensation and benefits, as the employees must get
the wages according to their work and get the benefits of extra working hour or anything
comes under the act. Another act is hour of work, means work under the office hour and
overtime applicable if the supplier gives compensation to the employees.

P4 Evaluate the SC Johnson’s range of Philanthropic activities in contributing to wider
societies and local communities
SC Johnson’s philanthropic activities are helpful for the community support
are the commitment that help the company to contributing more in widening the
society and local community. They are helping from the starting, in 1937, they give 5
percent of their prefix profit to the society. In 1959, SC Johnson’s charitable trust are
opened for the further support to the community where they work and also to enlarge
the global peace (Sheikh, 2018). The area is included where the support is needed
most are explained below:
Social: The initial starting comes from the providing support to the prevention and
eradication to the vector borne diseases. Support is given to eliminate the poverty
from the society and fix a standard for the people to live their lives.
Education: SC Johnson provides the funds to the major programme which help the
needy people to study and gives them educational instrument.
Environmental and sustainability: programme related to the reducing plastic waste,
promoting recycling, and measure to safeguard the environment.
US Product contribution: Major donations is given by the company which help the
small and other organisation to make the better world. And help the local community
to enlarge their share in the market.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that the corporate social responsibilities are
very important for the any company to make the company’s brand image and make the
customers loyal to them. It will help the company in many other ways like increasing the
market share, boosting up the profit, make the loyal customers and many more benefits.
There are various practices and rewarded are given by the society and the government to help
them by giving charity and donations. Furthermore it will help the environment and society to
grow with more sustainable approach. From the various activities a company can help the
society to evaluate more and help the other small sector organisation to grow in the society.
