Introduction
The purpose of this report is to make to analyze the business environment analysis of
Schenker Singapore Pvt. Ltd. This will be done by collecting relevant information of the
company and analysis of the external environment will also be done.
The report will also cover up the various parameters of the organizational structure of the
company and will thereby aim to highlight upon the corporate structure and planning process,
which is being implemented.
Management and Overview of the Company
Schenker Singapore Pvt Ltd is one of the major logistics service providers, which was
established in the year 1970. The company uses various modes of transportation for the purpose
of shipment of various products. This is essential to deliver wide range of products at much
shorter time period.
In 1998, the company got 29 million dollar invested in the form of foreign cash that has
helped them to improve upon their multifunctional of the logistics service. The turnover of the
company is estimated to be 15 billion Euros and there are about 90,000 employees, who are

Schenker in Singapore", 2017). There are various departments within the organization and that
are aimed to deliver different kinds of transportation service within the organization. Each of the
department is headed by a single manager, who has the authority to manage all other workers in
the respective domain. All the departments within the organization works in collaboration in
order to fulfill the mission and aim of the company, which is to implement the latest forms of
technology as a form of multi modal transportation system. This is essential in the context of the

cutting edge technology that is used in the innovation of the logistics and processing of the
system.
Environmental Analysis
The tool of PEST analysis is used in the matters related to investigation of the matters
related to the external analysis of business (Cai et al. 2016).
Political: The political environment of Singapore offers the minimum amount of risks
that are associated with the business. The stable democratic nature of the nation provides the
business with all major types of opportunities that can help in the expansion of the Schenker Pvt.
Ltd in all parts of the Singapore (Sun et al., 2014). The business policies that are implemented by
the company are accordance with the business and commercial laws of Singapore. All the
employees of the company are also appointed in terms of the Employability Act implemented by
the government in Singapore.
Economic: The nature of the economy of Singapore is of vibrant free-market nature that
is needed in the matters related to that of implementing business policies. The diverse nature of
the economy of Singapore will also help the Schenker Company to easily introduce new forms of
service and products in the market. Nevertheless, during times, the company also may have to
face the shortage of labors, which is one of the major issues that are faced by the nation.
Social: The society within the Singapore is relevant and prefers to make use of the latest
of technology. The demand of the society in Singapore is to have faster mode of delivery service,

Technological: The well-developed infrastructure of Singapore will help in the cases
related to expansion of business. The company has made use of the advanced level of
technological infrastructure to make improve upon the infrastructure of their logistics service.
Environmental: The Singapore being one of the eco-friendly nations, it is essential that
the policies that are implemented by the company must not harm the local environment.
The tool of Porter’s five forces is used to analyze the environment of the competition
with the market of Singapore (Gupta 2013). There are many other logistics service within
Singapore that includes the Pan Asia Logistics service and Yusen Logistics, which are the major
threat of competitors of Schenker. The company also has threats of dealing up with the
suppliers, which includes the delivery agents. This happens mainly due to the shortage of supply
chain in the Singapore Society. Moreover, due to the fact that there is tough level of competition
within the logistics company, there are chances that the company will have to face the threats
from the customers. There are also the risks due to the factors related to the new alternatives of
Logistics service. There are however, no major threats of alternatives that the Schenker
Company has to face in the Singapore. This threat is due to the implementation of the new forms
of technology with the logistics service in the market of Singapore. This is also encouraging the
threats of new entrants in the logistics service, which includes all types of new start ups logistics

service in Singapore. Due to the lower cost of the service, the company has to face the threat of
customer’s power. This is mainly fie to the fact that the people in Singapore have the demand for
high and faster forms of delivery.

It is the duty of the business ethics to deal with the issues related to financial matters. For
Schenker, it is important for them to ensure that they pay equally to the all the suppliers involved
within the supply chain services. The social responsibility of the company is to ensure that they
are able to provide the best forms of service and deliver all forms of parcel safely to the
customers.
Corporate Culture and Change
The work culture within the Schenker Pvt. Ltd is to focus upon and encourage
sustainability practice with the business, which will help in the matters related to the future
development of the company. It is relevant to mention in this context about the matters related to

Managing teams
The team management is important in Schenker Singapore Pvt. Ltd. However,
management of teams is much difficult, than managing individuals. The teamwork needs to be
carried out successfully, such that the management of the teams is done effectively.
Communication is important in team management (Schmidt, 2016). The benefits of working in a
team include costs effectiveness as well as productivity. One team leader, thus ensuring effective

in ensuring the management control that the company has set, for the employees to follow.
Conclusion
In the concluding note, it can be said that by properly analyzing the external business
environment, it is possible for Schenker to implement proper marketing plan in accordance with
that of the market condition of Singapore. The company also has flexible work culture, which is
needed to deal with change implementation process.
