AI Summary
This report provides an overview of system engineering principles applied to the development of a school management system. It utilizes the Vee model to illustrate the system's lifecycle, including decomposition and integration phases. The report details the concepts of operation, requirements and architecture, design (software, database, and network), and implementation. An elevator diagram is also presented. The analysis encompasses the identification of system requirements, such as student record tracking, attendance monitoring, exam scheduling, and parent-teacher-student interaction. The design phase focuses on user-friendly interfaces, database structure for data management, and network design for communication. The implementation phase includes system construction, testing, and user training. References from relevant sources are provided to support the concepts presented in the report.

SYSTEM ENGINEERING
Introduction
The purpose of system engineering is to improve our knowledge about complex systems. This is
because the complex system is decomposed into small components that can be called sub-
systems. The goal of modelling is to improve understanding of dynamic systems. The modelling
process involve computer stimulation modelling such as drawing of diagrams context diagrams,
flow charts and concepts maps. However, it may not carry all the modelling due to quantitative
limitations. A system engineering has greater base and understanding of complex systems
through structuring the processes which include analysis, design, coding and system building.
The engineering of systems as always the following targets.
Aims at accurate management.
Aims at finding the required requirements for the system to be developed.
Aims at the validation and verification of the system.
This research describes the development and application of vee model design system
engineering in development of a school management system. The vee model describes the
steps and requirement undertaken at each stage of developing the school system. The
functional decomposition of the school system are as follows.
Vee modelling of system Engineering
It is defined as a process that as many activities e.g definition of the system requirements,
transforming the requirements into a system and deployment of the system into an operational
environment Enjalbert, M. (2008).
The process is distinct hence it involves several processes in the development of the system.
This processes form the life cycle of the system since after one process another process
follows.Examples of the processes in the vee diagram are analysis ,testing and deployment of
the system. The vee diagram is divided into two phase decomposition and definition as the
first face and the second face is the integration and qualification phase .In this section the
decomposition and definition face will described .
The process that are in involved in the development of the school system are as follows Mooz,
H. (2010, October) .

SYSTEM ENGINEERING
This is the stage that that the developer find the actually environment of the system .This are
the things that the system require for its smoothing running. This are the hardware and
software required for the system to run.
The requirement and architecture
The problem facing the school are mentioned , analyzed and documented. The following
were found as what was needed in the school system.
Tracking of students performing records –Should analyze students results and store
them for a long period of time.
Checking on the student attendances –this allow the class teacher to check any absent
student and report to the parents.
Exam scheduling this will to give teachers an easy time in exam management and
analysis.
Interaction of parent’s teachers and students-to update parents with the student
performance.
New room in the school management giving a chance to students who are best in the
other co-curricular activities by listing their names.
After the requirements of the system have been established the system concept and the
validation plan procedures are as follows. They include the following.
The problems and scope of the existing system are determined.
The new system is overviewed.
The system feasibility and project schedule is determined
Also the feasibility report of the new system is created.
After the requirements have been established the architecture of the system is determined.
After validation the following steps comes in.
.
Design

SYSTEM ENGINEERING
This where the programmer designs the interface and the layout of the system. The following
components of the system will be designed in this plan
Software design-The outside layout of the system is designed to be user
friendly. This the system layout should be eye catching and attractive.
Database Design-The database is designed to accommodate and store the
details of the students. Nature and design of the database should allow
insertion of data, retrieval and deletion of the entered data.
Network design-This will allow the communication of computers in the
network. In the network the computers will exchange data and allow different
people to communicate .
Also data is specialized e.g. who will access data at what a time after the design the building
process of the system starts.
Implementation
This where the system is constructed, tested and the users are trained.
