Introduction:
We are going to implement a network architecture using Netsim for a school. We will discuss
the networking devices which we are going to make use of in the following scenario. That
will also include the name of the manufacturer’s name, port, model, series and also, we will
discuss the types of cables used in the given scenario. We will also talk about the required
server with the systems specifications. Finally, we will check out for the two outcomes of the
given scenario and the limitation for the required hardware devices.

Project scope:
The scope of the project is to implement the network design with a high bandwidth so that the
network provides a highly reliable and digital environment to their students. As being an
Administrator of the school, the Leo Li designed a wireless network for the school by
increasing the speed of the internet from 51Mbps to 90-100Mpbs by updating all the current
network infrastructure. The main focus is on upgrading the network infrastructure so that the
school will have the reliable and very high-speed connection of the internet.
Challenges:
The main challenges which is being faced while implementing the network infrastructure are
mainly on the selection on the networking devices, the security implementation, and
managing the IP for the network to the wireless network.
Focusing on each of the challenges which have been faced is mentioned below:
Networking Devices: Implementing the network infrastructure while going for the
wireless connection we need the wireless access point which will be used to connect the
wireless device directly to the access point to access the network connection.
Security Implementation: Implementing the secure connection for the network
architecture we need to follow some security protocols which should be implemented
while configuring the network. The VLAN is another way of implementing the security
where it should be implemented to differentiate the different departments in the schools.
The communication will also include the inter VLAN configuration where it will be used
for communicating for the one department with the other department. That department
who do not need to communicate with the other department that department will be
differentiated with the VLAN configuration so that they will not be able to get the access
to communicate with another department.
Managing IP: Managing the IP for different computers was the main problems which
must be resolved with the help of the DHCP server. Configuring the DHCP on the server
will let the computers to get the IP addresses dynamically. With the help of the DHCP, no
manual configuration is needed for the systems to get their IP addresses by giving them
one by one (Fisher, 2018).
User-Centric design concept:
In this network design I have design a complete infrastructure by surrounding it with wireless
access point using the high speed bandwidth of 100Mbps. So in this design I have used a
wireless access point which has it connection with the router and the router in connected with
the LAN and in the LAN network there are separate six department named as Admin,
Academic, HR, Finance, IT support and Sports all the departments are interconnected with
each other and the connection in established has been shown by the ping command.

Project Hardware Requirement:
The following networking devices will be used in the given scenario for the implementation
of the network architecture. The Wireless router is used for connecting wireless devices to it.
The switch is used for connecting the computers to it so that each and every system can be in
the same network and can implement some security configuration on the switch for different
systems. The following devices which are going to be used are as follow:
Devices Manufacturer’s
Name
Model Series Port
1. Router Cisco 2811 2800 RJ 45
2. Switch Cisco 2960-24TT-
L
2900 24
3. Wireless Router Cisco wireless Generic -
Types of cables which are going to be used are as follow:
Coaxial Cable: This cable is mainly used for transferring of the file consists of Video and
audio communication. It is basically made up of the copper conductor which is by the used of
some material get insulated. There is a protector all above of this wire which is also term as
the shield for the wire.

Source: (Mitchell, 2018).
Fibre-Optic Cable: It is basically built up with some pulses of the light and is also build up with
glass. The cost of this wire is too high. The high-speed bandwidth is requiring this type of wire to
produce and carry more bandwidth. Single-Mode and Multi-Mode are the two type of cables which
are there in Fibre-optic cables.

Crossover Cable: These types of cable are used for connecting the switch to switches available
there, or the switch to the hub, it also can be used to connect the router to the router, and the system
and systems are also connected to each other.
Figure 3: Cross-Over Cables

Straights through Cables: Basically, this cable is used for connecting the switch to the router,
from switch to the systems or the servers, and also from the hub to the systems or to the server
(Mitchell, 2018).

The server which will be used for the given scenario would be Windows Server 2012. It has
been used to configure the DCHP onto it so that the systems which all are connected to the
server will get the IP address dynamically. There no need to put the static IP addresses to each
and every computer which has been connected to the switch. The basic configuration like the
policy for each and every system can be configured onto the server itself.

The system which is required for the school and the configuration of the system these both
depend upon the uses of the systems. The system will high configuration will only be used by
the Admin department, Academic department and the It support department. Other
departments do not require high configured systems in their department.
The High Configured systems requires at least 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB of hard disk.
The low configured systems require at least 4 GB of RAM and almost 500 GB of hard disk.

Outcomes:
The two outcomes for the given network are:
1. All the systems are getting the Internet Protocol addresses dynamically. There is no need
for the manual insertion of the IP addresses to each and every system. The server where
the DHCP has been configured is allocating the IP addresses to each system dynamically.
2. All the six departments are separated by the VLAN. With this configuration, all the
departments get separated from each-others. Each department has their own VLAN. No
one department can communicate with the other department as every department is in
different VLAN’s. Those departments who want to communicate have been configured
with the inter-VLAN configuration through which it allows the department to
communicate with another department also.
Limitation:
Switch:
As compared to the bridge network switches are costlier.
We cannot trace the issue related to the network connectivity.
In term of the broadcasting, the switch is not as good enough as the router.
There can be an issue for the broadcast traffic which possibly troublesome (Hope, 2018).
Router:
It is costlier as compared to the repeaters or the bridges.
Document Page
It is possible that the routers used for dynamic communications can cause more and more traffic
on the network.
In term of the speed, the routers are much slower in comparing with repeaters or the bridges (Irei
and Scarpati, 2019).
Wireless Router:
The speed of the wireless router is slower in comparing to the router which is connected
by using the wire.
There is a maximum chance for the jamming which can be done because of the factors
from the outer side.
It can be tackled by the items like the items nearby (Bastounis, 2019).

Conclusion:
We have discussed the scope of the project at the beginning of the documentation. After
which we focused on the challenges which we will face while implementing the network
architecture. Then we discussed the networking devices which will be used for the
implementation which include the device manufacturer’s name, port, model and so on. After
that, we design the network using the Netsim and we checked the configuration of the
network. Finally, we discussed the outcomes and the limitation of the hardware devices
which we have used in the following scenario.
