Report
AI Summary
This report outlines the design and implementation of a network for a primary school, accommodating both internal users and guests. The network includes a basic LAN for 50 daily users and a separate, extended LAN for approximately 10 guest users. A key requirement is an FTP server that restricts guest user access to a limited set of files, while regular users have access to a broader range of servers for files and emails. The design incorporates network components such as routers and switches, configured to meet the school's specific needs. The report details IP addressing, network topology, switch and router configurations, DHCP setup, access point server guidelines, and security configurations, including VLANs and access control lists to isolate guest traffic and enhance network security. The network is designed with the assumption of a single building, dynamic IP addressing, and a high-end internet connection. The report concludes that the network design improves skills and knowledge about VLAN concepts and enhances overall network security.

OVERVIEW OF INTERNETWORKING
Project scope
The primary school which is a small organization that is in need of a network which would be used by
the internal users of the school as well as by the guests. The daily number is around 50 whereas the
guest user is around 10. The 50 users are associated with the usage of the network on a daily basis
whereas the 10 guest users might be associated with usage of the guest network on a guest basis for the
purposes of accessing certain things along with downloading of files. One part of the network is the
server which is used by the regular users and they need to connect to the server in order to use the
network. The server should be consisting of an FTP server which would be providing the access to the
file system only to the guest user.
Project Requirement
Some of the specifications which is needed for the purpose of implementing the network and they have
been listed below:
A basic LAN network for the daily users which is around 50.
Along with the LAN network for the daily users there is an need of having a extended LAN
network that would be used by the guest users.
There should also exist a FTP server that would be restricting the guest users. This FTP server
would only be associated with making the user get access only to a limited amount of files
present in the network.
Besides this there is a also a requirement of servers which would be used by the regular users on
a regular basis. And this mainly includes the components which are used on a daily basis like the
files, emails and many more.

OVERVIEW OF INTERNETWORKING
Various network components are also to be included in the network and this mainly includes the
routers and the servers and the switches. All this routers and switches are to be configured
according to the need of the school.
Network Design
This implementation of the new network would be configured according to the needs of the
organization.

OVERVIEW OF INTERNETWORKING
As stated in the provide guideline the network is to be designed in such a way that there exists a
separate subnet which could be used by the guest for the purpose of getting access only to the FTP
server. While making the design some assumptions are to be made and this assumptions have been
listed below:
There is an essential need that all the daily 50 users are present in the same building of the
school.
There is also an essential need that the 10 guest users who would also be using the network is
lso present in the same building of the primary school. The user might stay in in different floors
or in different chamber or in different room but all this should be a part of a single building.
It should be assumed that one high end internet connection id provided by the internet service
provider which is to be selected by the organization.
The network should also be using the Dynamic IP addressing. This generally refers to the fact
that there exists a proxy server or a DHCP or Dynamic Hybrid Configuration Protocol is available
for all the internet connection that is to be used by the network. Along with this all the other
servers are also to be kept in different sections of the building.
In the problem statement there is nothing mentioned about the wireless LAN so while
implementing the new network the wireless is not be considered and an special emphasis is to
be put upon the wired connections only.

OVERVIEW OF INTERNETWORKING
Conclusion
From the above report it can be concluded that with the development of the primary school network
diagram in netsim helps in improvement of the skill and knowledge about the vlan concept. For the
development of the network solution a dhcp configuration is done on the router and the fast Ethernet
interface 0/0 is broken done into f 0/0.10, f0/0.20, f 0/0.30. Three vlans are created in a layer 3 switch
and inter vlan routing is done for enabling communication between the different vlan. The switches are
configured with VTP where the layer 3 switch acts as the server and the two layer two switches acts as
the client for handling the distribution of the data packets. The Access control list is configured in the
core switch for blocking the guest vlan to communicate with the user vlan and increase the security of
the network.
