SCIENCE OF HUMAN CLONING
The science of human cloning has brought the probability of saving many people from
life-threatening and deliberating diseases and therefore it is important to adopt this technology
(Bertrand 42). Human cloning can be defined as the creation of a genetically identical copy of a
human through the reproduction of human tissues and cells. This technology can bring about
both positive and negative effects.
According to Laurentiu (15), human cloning eradicates faulty genes. Though genetic
diseases are not the major cause of deaths in today’s society, there is a high possibility to be the
ones in the future. As human continues to reproduce, there is an increased damage in their DNA
line which are the major causes of defective genes. Cloning mostly involves selection of healthy
human cells and this helps in eliminating defective genes. However, cloning mostly is done using
older cells and genes of human beings. These cells can lead to premature ageing and also early
deaths. This is because the imprinted age of these cells used is easily transferred to the growing
embryo.
Secondly, human cloning has reduced the levels of infertility in most families. Though
there are modern treatments of infertility, cloning has reached great heights whereby one can

clone cells and form a child from a father and mother (Jason 23). Couple nowadays don’t have to
go through painful procedures to help in treating infertility. Cloning has helped them save money
and time. Though cloning has helped in reducing fertility, there is a feeling that these sciences
have interfered with nature. This is because procreation is something which cannot be corrected
or interfered with. The couple involved in this process would not be able to feel good like those
who gave birth naturally. This process can bring about stigmatization and can also cause a
domino effect which means that other attributes of life can be changed or affected negatively. In
most cases, children made through cloning are not treated the same way as those born naturally
and this brings about division in the families.
Moreover, human cloning can easily cure some human disorders (Branden 33). This can
be done by replacing damaged tissues within the body. Though the medical benefits of human
cloning are not clearly known, it is evident that with this technology a series of human disorders
can be managed. However, this organ transplant can reduce the overall value of a person. With
too many cells implant in the body, it makes one feel more of a commodity than an individual.
This process can also bring about more problems especially when the cloning is being done by a
quack.
Though human cloning has various negative effects, the positive ones seem to outdo
them. This is because human cloning has brought about happiness to many people. This is
because even for the people who seemed to be infertile have found a way of having children. It
has also led to curing of disorders which seemed to be a lifetime problem. This is done by
replacing defective genes with the healthy ones.
