The lesson plan covers various topics, including gravity, forces, the solar system, photosynthesis, and the types of mammals. The 'Engage' section focuses on using attractive props, such as flashcards, science toys, and interactive games, to capture students' interest. The 'Explore' phase encourages inquiry-based learning through different activities. The assignment emphasizes the importance of hands-on activities and visual aids to make the learning process more effective and engaging for young students. 1LESSON PLAN
Lesson plans are an essential component for teachers and students in schools especially
for children who are young and need more interventions to make them learn something. A 5E
plan has all the necessary components known as Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and
Evaluate. A science lesson needs to be planned for 3rd graders that will have all these
components, which will have topics such as gravity, forces required for push and pull, solar
system, photosynthesis, types of mammals, light and sound.
The students will be Engaged through attractive props such as flashcards, science toys,
models, games involving the topic, creativity sessions, question and answer sessions, supporting
research projects and allotting them group projects so that they can interact and make friends
with other pupils in the class. As they are kids they will require colorful and musical instruments
to work with. For example, a lesson plan of the photosynthesis will have flashcards that will have
the pictorial representation of the whole process. It will include different charts and teaching aids
to engage them in the whole activity (Namdar & Kucuk, 2018).
The investigation planned for the Explore activity will be done with the support of the
children involved. The exploration phase in a 5E plan includes giving different activities to the
children so that they can enquire and explore about the different topic. This will make them feel
interested about different curriculum, which will help them in learning about various topics at
ones. This will allow them to remove their misconceptions and come up with more questions that
helps in enhancing knowledge (Bybee, 2014).
