Changes in project scope affects the project schedule
Changes in project scope can be occurred and it has its own impact on the schedule of
the project, project life cycle or phrases. The most vulnerable change within the scope of the
project include scope creep. This results in reducing or eliminating the profit margins of a
certain project. The project schedule is decided depending on the outcomes that are expected
from the project and its deadline. After the project has been started and there are numerous
changes that are to be brought about within the project scope would affect the schedule of the
project in a negative manner. Changes within the scope results in more changes in various
stages of the project such as initiation stage, testing stage, execution stage and closure stage.
The changes in these stages results in lengthening the time consumed by the overall project.
The ways by which project manager can formally communicate these variances to
project stakeholders include group meetings; group meetings can be held by the project
manager including all the stakeholders. This way project manager would be able to convey
the variances of changes that had been taken place within the scope of the project. This would
help the project manager to convey the issue in a professional manner along with gaining
ideas on various strategies that could be used to prevent or ignore the issues. The project
manager and the stakeholders can discuss and choose one strategy that could be used for
eradicating the issue.
