SDG 1
Introduction
Across the globe, United Nations (UN) adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
for protecting the planet, ending poverty and making sure about the individuals enjoying
prosperity and peace in the future. Along with these goals, it is essential to balance the
environmental, social and economic sustainability. Here, the discussion is based on Goal 3
and that is “Good health and well-being” because it is a major issue according to me and so I
choose it. There is increase in death causes and disease nowadays which is a major concern to
think about good health through sustainable development (Stafford-Smith, et al., 2017). Goal
3 is important for covering health and controlling tobacco universally for numerous deaths
reduction because of substance abuse and road traffic accidents.
Projects supporting the goal
In Goal 3, the issues related to health are maternal health, child mortality, malaria, HIV/AIDS
and other diseases. One of the targets made to achieve while supporting the goal aimed at
ending preventable deaths of children under the age of 5 years and new-borns. Another
depicted the maternal mortality ratio reduction globally to less than 70 based on per 100,000
live births (Bath, 2018). It is essential for both developing and developed countries to work
on attaining healthy lives and promoting well-being for every individual along with
addressing policies accessing health coverage and relationships with narcotics and alcohol of
populations.

Furthermore, there are many projects and targets set for achieving this goal by 2030 across
the globe to nurture sustainable development. The project implementation for this goal was
“Snake bite Treatment centre Development” to develop socially started in July 2019 as
selected by municipalities along with completing it by March 2020 (León Nuñez, et al.,
2019). This issue can be supported by using science and technology for addressing the health
needs and availability of products at affordable prices.
Interrelationships between Goal 3 and three pillars of sustainability
Across the SDGs, the integration of health and well-being as sustainable development results
are possible through concerning the three pillars of sustainability that are social, economic
and environmental. SDG 3 is regarded with achieving all three pillars of sustainable
development consisting resources usage, investments direction, technological development
orientation, and development of institutions without compromising health and well-being
(Purvis, et al., 2019). Goal 3 is concerned in sectors such as economy, security, sustainability,
justice, environment, housing, education, transport, infrastructure, planning, community
services, food, early life, health, agriculture, and land. In all countries, improvement in health
concerning families, communities and individuals as well has consequences while achieving
this goal. In sustainable development, health is a major contributor but these three pillars
related to health are outside the health sector which requires inter-sectoral coordinated action.
Though, better health as a whole improves economic and social outcomes (Nunes, et al.,
2016).
Concluding personal connection with this issue and positive impact
In conclusion, the locality I live in faces lot of health related issues which really needs to get
resolved within the time. It is essential to accomplish this goal for living peacefully without
any negative impacts on the individuals close to me or populations. The positive impact can
be possible through increasing the access to and provision of health services, and reducing
morbidity and mortality by UHC (Universal health coverage) expansion.
