AI Summary
This report, created for an Access to HE Psychology Study Skills assignment, evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of various secondary research methods. It begins with an introduction to the task of creating an information leaflet on secondary research methods for new university students. The report then delves into the evaluation of four specific methods: textbooks, free internet search engines, TV/Radio programmes, and newspapers. For each method, the report discusses its advantages, such as the structured organization of textbooks and the broad information base of TV/Radio, as well as its ease of use and information retrieval, considering factors like library access, online searches, and the utilization of indexes and search engines. The report concludes with a list of references and a bibliography supporting the evaluations made. This document, available on Desklib, offers valuable insights for psychology students seeking to improve their research skills by analyzing and comparing the usefulness of diverse information sources.

Evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of researching information
Textbook
The textbooks forms an important part of the research as the textbooks are the ones
that helps to determine the different topics and ideas that are generally taught and the process
that they are presented. The textbooks are generally advantageous for a number of different
reasons. They provide organized and structured units of work and provides all the necessary
plans and lessons that are provided in exact details (Fazzino et al.2017). On the other hand,
the detailed sequences of the information of a particular topic is the key behind the use of the
proper and efficient use of textbooks in research. The wise use of the textbooks is also
important for the conduction of research. The textbook has acted as a resource for the
students since a long time and there are no such supplements to a textbook.
Free Internet Search Engine
Search Engines are used extensively in the modern day as a way of doing research on
the internet. Search Engine can act as effective tools in the research process as they have
some strengths in them that can help to ensure better and developed research designs. The
best use of the search engine is to find out the research and also to get a clear and transparent
idea of the research strategy that will be used in the search engine (Lau 2017). The search
engine generally acts as a strong source of research as because one can easily get an idea of
the data. The optimized search engine of the modern days are generally designed to draw
upon the research oriented sites that are considered t be more relevant and efficient.
TV/Radio programme
Television and radio programmes is always considered as one of the most important
features of the modern research. As television and media has a wide and broad approach it
naturally contains a lot of information related to both current as well as the old news and

research (Olson and Simmonds 2019). The selection of TV and other media channels can
thus help to collect important and effective knowledge on the topic related to the research.
The use of television and radio thus has the capability to make the research more informative
and more trustable.
Newspaper
Similar to the above mentioned sources used to collect information of a research,
newspapers can also serve as a prospective medium for the research sources. The articles of
newspapers generally provides prospective and genuine sources of primary as well as
secondary qualitative information related to the topic of the research (Bowie 2019). The use
of newspaper sources in research is important as because it helps researcher to trace the
history of the subjects over a period of time and determine on how people viewed a particular
event. Most importantly the events of both the current and past are showcased and discussed
while using the newspapers in a research. Thus newspapers can seriously serve as a primary
or secondary tool to help the researchers in their quest of research.
