Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment delves into the realm of Structured English Instruction (SEI) strategies, specifically focusing on the 'Super SEI' model designed to enhance the learning experience for English Language Learners (ELL). The paper highlights five key strategies: establishing clear language objectives, implementing a 50/50 English rule for teacher-student interaction, encouraging students to operate within their 'productive discomfort' zone, promoting the use of articulate and complete sentences, and emphasizing student-driven learning. The assignment explores how these strategies can be applied across various subjects like Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science, incorporating techniques like group reading, visual aids, and differentiated instruction to cater to the needs of ELL students. The paper also emphasizes the importance of background knowledge and extended discussions within the SEI framework, providing educators with a comprehensive guide to implementing effective language instruction. The paper also provides references to support the information provided.

SEI STRATEGIES
Introduction: SEI Strategies in Learning
SEI strategies which means Structured English Instructions (SEI) is a structured model
that only promotes English instructions along with English grammar directions (Friedman,
2015). The super SEI programs are beneficial to the students and especially the students that
are in classrooms that is the ELL students. The five super SEI strategies include:
Strategies to always establish the objective of the language
Strategies to always use the 50/50 English rule where the teachers speaks 50% while
the student speaks the remaining 50%.
Strategies to always push the students to their level of productive discomfort
Students should always respond in very articulate and complete sentences.
Strategies that always recognizes that the teacher is supposed to do nothing and the
student is always supposed to do all the work (Hall, 2017).
In the SEI strategy, there should use a lot of repetition of things that are said in the
classroom. There is a lot of repeating of sentences in the activities generated. SEI increases
the engagement and concept retention of activities being learned. It also provides the students
with oral practice in language and construction of sentences. At first, it may seem a bit
awkward but after listening to the difference and trying it for a while, it shows how the
student should talk to each other and the teachers. The following are the strategies that are
required from the readings:
