Introduction
The assignment throws light on analyzing the approach which will be designed to
select the manager in an appropriate manner. The case deals with hiring a manager for a fast
food restaurant joint wherein the manager will be responsible for managing thirty employees.
However, there is a high turnover rate among the different employees, and the retention of
such employees will be one of the essential priorities. There can be problems faced by the
manager as there is the union of employees which can limit the power of the manager.
Designing Approach for Selecting Manager
To select the manager for the fast food restaurant, there are few attributes which are
required to be considered to improve the business scenario effectively.
Firstly, it is required to be checked whether the person is fit for the job role in the
given environment. The proper establishment of the philosophy of the team is essential for
organizational productivity (Northouse, 2018). The respective candidate is required to be
good at promoting teamwork which will set an example for the others, and this will be
contributing in the long run. Moreover, culture plays an essential role in managing employees
as this will be helpful in understanding the business (AlMazrouei & Zacca, 2015). There can
be integrity which is the fundamental attribute of leadership which fosters trust, and this
helps in leading to higher productivity.
Furthermore, it is required to be checked during the recruiting and selection process
whether the person is open to learning new things from the employees. There should be a
transformational leadership approach which is required to be adopted by the leader which
will help in appropriately managing the overall team. The person should not be closed to new

ideas as this will become rigid, and this will not allow the leader in working with others as
well (Wilkes et al., 2015).
Lastly, it is required to be checked whether the person is capable of being followed
by the employees. During the process of recruitment, it is essential to be analyzed whether the
candidate has the potential to attract the individuals working under him (Mendenhall et al.,
2017). For example- Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, is one of the transformational leaders who
try to consider the different viewpoints of employees working under him which helped in
increasing productivity of the organization in a positive manner (Mendenhall et al., 2017).
The teamwork quality is necessary which will play a significant role in creating a loyal team.
There should be courage in the manager to handle conflicts which will motivate the team
positively (Owusu et al., 2017).
Methods of Selection of Employee
There are different ways of selection of employee which can be adopted by the fast food
restaurant as this will play a significant role in finding the most suitable candidate for the post
of manager in the organization who will be responsible for improving the current scenario.
Ability Tests is helpful in directly knowing the employee as this will showcase the
potential of candidates in handling the team effectively. Furthermore, this will help in
measuring the mental abilities of individuals for a particular position. It is required to be
checked by HR whether the person can solve problems within the team positively or not
(Dipboye, 2017).
Integrity Tests is helpful in assessing the potential of the candidate whether they are
honest along with the dependable attitude of the candidate which will be beneficial in
reducing absenteeism and resistance of employees in the organization. It is required to be

Personality Describing Tests is the other technique which can be applied by the HR
department of fast food restaurant which will help in the development of employee by
assessing certain traits of becoming a successful manager. For instance- There can be the
inclusion of different situations which can be helpful in understanding the characteristics such
as whether the candidate has potential to become a definite guide for the restaurant as the
central aspect is to retain employees in an effective manner (Cumberland et al., 2016).
Conclusion
Therefore, this can be concluded that there are few attributes which are required to be
considered to select a leader in the organization. The different methods of selection of
employee in the organization have been analyzed which can be appropriate for finding the
most suitable employee in the organization effectively. With the different inclusion of traits,
this has been clear that this will improve the current scenario of the organization effectively
which will be beneficial for the overall success of the organization shortly.
