Journal and Reflective Writing
AI Summary
This self-analysis journal, created for the MBA502 course, delves into the student's emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership capabilities. The assignment required the student to complete two EI assessments and have two colleagues and/or family members complete the same assessments. Using the Johari Window model, the student critically compares the results, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses in areas such as self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship management. The journal also reflects on competencies needed for global citizenship, including cross-cultural skills and analytical abilities. The student concludes by identifying areas for improvement, particularly in relationship management, and emphasizes the journal's value in understanding the skills needed for a culturally diverse work environment. References to the EI tests and other related research are also included.

Analysis based on my score
Based on the standards which are set for each quadrant of the Johari Window, it can
be said that I am very much confident in my open area where I know things about myself
(Bamber, Lewin and White 2018). Coming to the blind area, I think that most people have a
positive approach for me, and this aspect is very well managed from my end. From the
perspective of the hidden quadrant, I can say that I have maintained a huge social value and it
is not hidden from the other members of the society. From the perspective of the forth
quadrant, I believe that I have some serious relationship management issues which many of
my surrounding people are not aware of.
Analysis based on the score of a colleague
Unlike my score, the score of my colleague is very much different, considering
quadrant 1, she is not at all aware of the things which she possesses. From the perspective of
the blind sport, it can be said that she is aware of her feeling, however, others are also very
much aware of those feelings as well (Berry and Dasen 2019). Considering the hidden area, it
can be said that she is not aware of her own skills and capabilities and others are also not
aware of it. Based on the theme of quadrant 4, it can said that most of the people she knows is
aware of her skills and responsibilities.
Analysis based on my score of a family member
Considering the open quadrant, the family member is not aware of his skills and
knowledge which is visible to others. He is also not aware of what others think about him
based on the blind area of Johari Window. Based on the hidden quadrant, he has a lot of
capabilities which other people are aware of. At the same time, based on the final quadrant,
he is very much capable of managing relationships and very few people are aware of it. My

emotional intelligence is also much better as compared to the other two participants. The
social awareness skills of the participants are very much similar to each other, whereas the
relationship management skills are different from each other. My relationship management
skills and social awareness skills is very much similar to my family member and I do not
share any kind of similarity with my colleague.
Analyse your strengths and weaknesses:
Based on the score, it can be said that I have numerous strength and weakness as well.
I believe that I am aware of most of the social problems which are faced in our society, and I
am very much conscious about the social norms of behaviour. I have enough self-
management skills such as the problem-solving attitude and resisting stress to a huge extent,
and I believe it is one of my strengths as well. These self-management skills are very much
significant for me as it helps me to strengthen our memory and do all the regular exercises
(Nascimento-Junior et al. 2020). I believe these skills are very much beneficial for me as it
helps me to do my regular activities. The challenges which I usually face in the workplace, is
also addressed or minimised to a huge extent due to these skills (Oliver and Duncan 2019).
Based on my score of social awareness, I can say that I have an empathizing power to
understand the diverse background of my friends and colleagues and I am very much
comfortable spending time with them. I believe that that I am very much sympathetic to
others and I have all the moral values as well. I am very much comfortable making all the
social communications, my ability to interact with people is very much on the higher side as
well.
However, I have a limitation as well, in terms of managing relationships. I lack some
of the relationship management skills, such as being kind and patient with people. I have trust
issues with some people; as a result, I cannot be kind with every people I meet every day.

One of my weakness will be the lack of ability to influence others. I also lack in conflict
management skills and it one of my drawbacks as well.
Reflect on competencies
The competencies which I would like to develop to perform well as a global citizen
are respecting the difference of attitude and behaviour of people, having a true sense of global
connection, analytical skills, cognitive abilities, and critical thinking ability.
My ability to engage with people can be increased if I start respecting the difference
and attitude of the behaviour of people. In order to enhance my performance as a global
leader, a sense of global connection is very much required (Siburian, Corebima and Saptasari
2019). I can support ideas coming from across the world if acquire a sense global connection.
I also believe that global awareness is also very much required to work as a perfect global
citizen, and it is very much significant to interact with people from diverse cultural
backgrounds (Wijayati, Sumarni and Supanti 2019). Enhancement of my analytical skills is
very much significant to find the solution of the common problem which are faced by the
global citizens such as isolationism, non-critical patriotism, terminological vagueness,
instability of the global citizenship education and lack of administrative skills. In order to
work as a responsible global citizens, the other skills which I desire to have are cognitive
learning and critical thinking skills (Hidalgo et al. 2019). Cognitive learning skills is very
much significant to improve my confidence so that I can perform in a better way as a global
citizen (Gamayanto et al. 2019). The incorporation of critical thinking skills shall help me to
make better decisions as a global citizen, at the same time, it can be said that my relationship
management skills can be enhanced with the help of the critical thinking skills as well. On the
other hand, I can say that I can remain physically and mentally fit as a global citizen if I am
flexible enough.

Considering the diverse cultural background which I have in my workplace, I need to
maintain cross-cultural skills. This skill is very much significant for me to engage my
colleagues and help me to work with them on bigger assignments. This particular skill has
also helped me enhance my communication skills as well and I failed to reach out to people
during the starting days in this workplace (Blackmore 2016). This skill is also very much
useful for me to address the regular conflicts which the employees of this organization have
