Introduction
Self appraisal as the name suggest it is the procedure of evaluating my own strength,
weakness and learning, by self appraisal I got to know more about my self (Davey and et.al,
2017). This report will explain about my communication skills, team work, inter-personnel,
problem solving and team management skills, how I use such skills to sort out my problems have
been mentioned in this report. This report helps me to improvise my own skills and knowledge.
Gibbs reflective cycle
This model is given by Graham Gibbs which is focused on “ Learning my doing”. This
model has helped me a lot to know different situations and how I can implement my strength in
different situations on the same how can I overcome my weakness so that I achieve all the goals
of my life.
Description
In the year 2015 I have completed my masters degree in marketing, and I was very sure
in my mind that I want to become Marketing manager one day, and currently I am working as a
marketing manager in one of the big company, here I have to manage a team of 10 people who
are working under me (Wain, 2017). To guide them, my communication skill help me a lot,
From the academics I was good in the communication skills whether it is a written
communication of verbal, due to which I get a lot of advantage like in my academics, due to
having strong communication I was able to give presentation easily, and the audience can
understand everything which I want to explain them. Along with this I was continuously working
to develop more efficiency in the communication owing to this habit I got many career
opportunities in my life. As my dream was to become a marketing manager and communication
plays a great role in this field, due to having strong grip on communication I am able to convince
people, so this skill is helping me a lot in my career. Being a manager I have to sort out the
queries of customers as well due to good communication I am doing it very well.
Feelings
when I was new to this postilion I was worried that how will I manage such a huge team
and I was not having any prior experience of marketing manager so my teamwork skill was not
good even people of team were not cooperating me so my team work skill was not up to the
mark I was not able to guide them as well but as the time passage I learnt a lot from others and I
overcome this issue now I am able to guide my team even they are also approaching me

whenever they face any difficulties along with this I learnt problem solving skill because being a
marketing manager I have to face many issuers and problems every day whether it is related to
the customer or employee I have top bring them solution, apart from this I have to mange top
management also, because I have to prepare all the marketing strategies and promotional
strategies as well (Wareing, 2017). In such situation, earlier I got nervous, people were not
taking me seriously, no one was working as per my instructions but now the situation is totally
different, I learnt a lot of new things, now I can manage my team even people are started
working as per my orders and guidance.
Evaluation
In this stage, I have evaluated my skills and qualities, I get a chance to overcome my
weakness as earlier I was not good in problem solving skills but being a marketing manager it is
must, to solve any type of problem (Wallace, 2019). I have to make policies and strategies for
the advertisement and promotion sometimes these strategy works or sometime not, so to take
correct decision at the right time is very important which I learnt by working as a marketing
manager. Apart from this, I have learnt time management skills as well, earlier I was good at
time management, but now being a manager I have to fulfil all the task and targets given to me
so that by seeing me, my team will also fulfil their task on time. From this skill, I learnt how to
utilize the available time and how I can spend my particular time so that I can work more
effectively.

This model is being propounded by David Kolb, which states about my internal cognitive
process (Watson and et.al, 2019). As per Kolb, people get to learn different skills when they
face different situations. Apart from learning I will get experience also which will help me at the
every stage of my life and career as well.
Concrete experience
This approach focuses that whenever I face any situation, I feel and realise that I need to
learn something new, when I was new in the company I was not good in teamwork skills, and I
have to mange the team of 10 people which was very difficult for me but as the time passage I
see the entire situation I started making notes that at which stage I am lagging behind and not
able to handle my team thus I get a chance to over come this, I have improved just because I get
a chance to experience the things which I was not familiar earlier, so by getting experience I
learnt and improved (Sudria and et.al, 2018).
Reflective observation
This approach states about the observation only, I will observe my work, what could I
have done, how can I improve, how things could have done better. Initially as per this stage I
wall try to find out different ways to solve any problem. The reflection observation help me a lot
to make different ways of different problem, in the past was not able to make accurate decisions
on time.
Abstract conceptualization
According to this stage I should consult my colleagues or I can take feedback from my
colleagues about the decisions which I have taken in the past what they feel about that, to they
want to give any suggestions in them, are they comfortable or not with the work what are their
views and suggestions of the policies implemented by me so with the help of abstract
conceptualization I get a chance to learn about me and also I will come to know that what others
think about me.
Active experimentation
This stage states about practising, whatever new things I have learnt or get knowledge I
need to implement them in my day to day work do that I can improve my work and get
perfection in them (Davey and et.al, 2017). So basically this situation bound me to use the
different ideas and ways which I have learnt so that I can bring a different way to different
situations with the help of my obtained knowledge.

Conclusion
The entire report states about the self actualisation, and how I utilize my skills to face any
difficult situation. Apart from this, Gibbs reflection model is also mentioned in this report which
help me to know my strength and weakness. With the help of this skill, I got to know that in
which skill I am good and where I need to work more. This report contains personality
