REFLECTIVE STATEMENT
A reflective statement is the perfect place to write about your personal experience and
thoughts. In a journal we can write positive or any negative experience event we face in our
lives. Besides, reflective statement is a personal records of learning experience and event which
we faced in past or we are going through in our present life.
INTRODUCTION
Self- assessment was challenging task for me but the main motive behind this, is to
evaluate my own weaknesses which I need to overcome in order to deal with my colleagues. One
day at my office I was assigned group presentation. Further, when we executed our work after
planning it turned difficult for me, as I lack communication skills, confidence and I am self
centred. I do not like interacting with new people, i even don't put my point of view either I am
right or wrong.
Description
Since childhood and till now i have limited friends who are just like me. Being a single
child of parents I was grown up in selfish environment like my things, my needs, my wants etc.
All these habits turned me into a very selfish person and now when I am working I face lot many
issues in dealing with different kind of individuals.
Personal Feelings
I tried interacting with people but people find me very cunning and arrogant because
which I have lost many friends since childhood till now. Personally when my manager assigned
me the presentation with 4 other members, I was very nervous that I cannot perform in front of
so many audiences and even I don't want to do field work as this will need interaction and I don't
want communicate with strangers. I feel some school incidences disturbed me, like one day when
my teacher asked me questions and I answered them wrong she scolded me in front of whole
class. After that day I felt very humiliated as my all batch-mates were laughing at me and I feel
these little incidences in school created impact on my mind and now I lack confidence. Hence, I
realized that i really need to improve myself to become a better person.
Evaluation
Further, when my manager assigned me the task I was very nervous but this was the high
time when I needed to do self assessment to overcome all my issues related to self confidence,
and communication. This time focused on behaving politely with my colleagues and stays

friendly with them. I even noticed that except me everyone was very happy with task assigned.
Moreover, when we were dividing the work all the group members were very well behaved and
assigned me the work according to my department and skills. In contrast, i even analysed that my
group members think that I am very challenge-able personality and everyone likes to talk to me
but i always ignore them because of my confidence and self centred nature. However, I arrived at
a solution that if I will be genuine to people keeping my ego aside I will end up developing my
communication skills. Effective communication with people around me will help me in making
trustworthy friends who would not judge me by wrong answers. Moreover, I learned that human
life is all about living in present, if you will keep recalling your sad experiences of past, that will
turn you up in different personality as per you experience. Also, I feel self assessment technique
is very helpful in dealing with our own problems. Moreover, by only evaluating the factors in
which I lack help me a lot in improving my nature as this do not need second or third person
opinion.
CONCLUSION
In last I would like to conclude by saying that, by conducting self assessment i focused
on my current personal and professional development. After, working with group I realized that
these activities help a lot in developing communication skills of individuals. Further, I even
noticed that self assessment evaluation is all about you and your positive and negative
personality traits. Besides, i even noticed improvement in my basic abilities and skills like time
management, organisational skills, etc. Hence, I decided that now I will focus on improving my
leadership skills and will also try to volunteer which will help me in interacting with new
individuals and will enhance my organizational skills. However, I think that my self-assessment
can be helpful to those individuals, who are interested in psychology and who attempt to conduct
their own self-assessment.
