Executive summary
This report indicates the importance of self – awareness in choosing the right career path in an
individual life. Self-awareness is the stage where a person cannot only identify but also being
able to understand the associated elements of this self-awareness concept which is an essential
requirement of being successful in my choosing career which is hotel industry. The report
explains the five key points of self – awareness, which are personality, emotional intelligence,
power & politics, values & motivators and leadership style as well. At first, the first elements
help to understand that the two models, which are The Big five models and Type A and Type B
as well, which helps to identify the new sides of my personality. The second point explains the
connection between values and motivators with each other with the help of Maslow's need
hierarchy theory. It explains that if the needs of every become fulfil, they will quickly feel
motivated. The third element which is emotional intelligence that is everyone's ability to identify
and understand the emotions and feelings of others which is my comfort zone and this will surely
help me to become easy to work with in future. The fourth element of leadership will help me to
identify my leadership style, which is adaptive because of my quickly influencing approaches to
other things would be easy for me in future as running a successful kitchen.
All these self – awareness things helps to understand myself more and identify the strengths and
weakness of me, which is an essential requirement while choosing a career path for the future.

Introduction
The assessment task addresses the need to understand the series of factors that are reward
concerning organizational behaviour. For the purpose the report work addresses and highlights
on the varied subjects that can assist in the authority concern in taking of the valuable and useful
decision concerning the current as well as prospects. The reported work addresses on the
personality of the individual to deliver suitable values and motivational factors. Further provided,
the role of leadership that can have better power and politics are also discussed in the report to
ensure adequate understanding. Further provided the report work addresses on the need to have
effective decision making to formulate a suitable planning structure that can provide a suitable
base for the working patterns of the concern in the prospects of time.

2.0 Self-awareness
Self-awareness is a condition where a person can identify the abilities of an individual separate
from the environment and other individuals (Lu & Wang 2018, p. 823-837). It is a capacity of
personal introspection for identifying strengths and weaknesses of an individual. It should be an
understanding of a particular individual trait (Lu & Wang 2018, p. 823-837). Self – awareness is
an ability to take an honest look to an individual without judgement of being right or wrong. It is
essential for a person that the person can understand and identify the strengths and weaknesses of
their own (Nida & Martine 2017, p. 55-82). It helps to make them know that area where a person
needs to improve and those areas where a person could take it as their strength points (Nida &
Martine 2017, p. 55-82).
2.1 Personality
Everybody has different personalities which got affected by a few factors itself. There are six
dimensions of each person’s character, which are energy, value, direction, strength, depth and
consciousness. These things made a significant difference in people’s personalities. For self-
awareness of a personal' nature, it is required that the person should be aware of the six
dimensions of their characters as well. It helps them to understand their aspects. The Big Five
personality model is best to explain my personality. As is explained with the name of this theory
that it includes five factors which are openness to experiences, conscientiousness, extraversion,
agreeableness and neuroticism (Hill, Erin, Billington, Rex, Krageloh & Chris, 2013, p. 600-605).
When it comes to my personality, I am inquisitive and have a love for art. I am not that
adventure enough, but I love artistic things approaches which are one of the prime requirements

in my chosen hotel industry (Hill, Erin, Billington, Rex, Krageloh & Chris, 2013, p. 600-605).
Self-discipline is one of the most important things which people often talk about my personality
(Hill, Erin, Billington, Rex, Krageloh & Chris, 2013, p. 600-605). I have an aim in my life that I
want to be a good chef who requires, and it is connected to the second factor of the Big five
theory as well. I am an energetic, outgoing and quite friendly with other people who are the rest
of the elements from this theory. According to Type A and Type B personality theory, more
competitive, aggressive and highly impatient are considered to be in Type A, and Type B is more
explainable, and much relaxes as well (Chattopadhaya, Berger & Hanessian 2016, p. 5074-
5086). I would consider myself in Type A because of my competitive spirit and comprehensive
time management, which are two few of those basic requirements as well. In the hotel industry,
competition is getting tough day by day, and for staying in this competitive industry, it is
required that a person should have enough competitive spirit to think innovative in its work
(Chattopadhaya, Berger & Hanessian 2016, p. 5074-5086).
2.2 Values and motivators
The importance of values and personality made a significant impact on the level of motivation on
an individual. Benefits and nature help to increase the level of motivation, which will help
achieve the goals and targets of a person in life. Values and personality are often connected and
play an essential role in developing and managing the level of motivation in the professional
growth of a person. In my chosen industry, the competition level is exceptionally high, and hotel
industry is one of the most important and competitive industry because it is entirely based on
customers and market trends as well so often time, things are pretty much unpredictable and
unexpected. For achieving success in this sector, it is required that I would not feel nervous
because of the early struggle in this industry. The Maslow’s need hierarchy theory is according

to my thought process in life. It helps me to understand the importance of being calm and
patience and become more motivated as well. According to this motivation theory, the central
concept behind motivation level is that if a person is all needs are satisfied, the chances are that it
would make them feel more motivated and passionate towards their work as well (Li, Chen &
Hui 2019, p. 364-372).
I understand the importance of fulfilling the basic needs of a person because if the basic needs
are not satisfied, there are chances that the person would not be able to concert and gets quickly
distracts with other things in life which will easily make a person lose its motivation for the work
as well. As I explained earlier that my prime goal in life is become a successful chef and work
with big hotel brands and learn and experience new things in life regarding food & beverages
industry and these values will be very helpful to me in making my dreams come true in life. It
will be beneficial to understand the impact of motivating when the struggle hits me in my
upcoming future profession life (Li, Chen & Hui 2019, p. 364-372). I understand, it is not
possible to feel motivated, but it would be admirable if my values will help me develop a
pleasant personality and then help to increase an empowering character to me which would be
worthy to me and for my career in the hotel industry. My values such as passion, imagination
and courage are beneficial to me whenever I feel little low now in my student life so I believe
that it would for sure admirable when it comes to face the real-life professional struggle in my
future life (Li, Chen & Hui 2019, p. 364-372).
2.3 Emotional intelligence
Emotional intelligence represents that a person is able not only to identify but also fully aware of
the emotions and feelings of others. It is the ability to understand the other person's emotional

levels and then act accordingly. It is one of the essential requirements of these days when most
people are getting sensitive less or no emotion. Emotion intelligence would be helpful to
understand to make someone more liberal and understandable of others feelings as well (Henry
& Diane 2017, p. 13). It helps to improve the working environment and make it easy to work
with others. In my career choices, it is straightforward to get frustrated with the day and night
jobs which made it challenging to work in that toxic and harmful environment (Henry & Diane
2017, p. 13). Emotional intelligence will be helpful to understand other issues and emotions and
make us more humans towards others. Emotional intelligence is one of the most required skills in
working with the hospitality industry. If we can self-aware and more human to others, which is
one of the essential requirement of working in the hotel industry. Emotional intelligence traits
such as confidence and adaptability are the traits which I have in my personality as well, and I
think these things help me become more understandable with others. It will be helpful to me and
my future career because things would become accessible to me, such as the struggle related to
the early stages of my career. It helps me to act accordingly the factors which would be
responsible for the frustration which comes with the jobs in the hotel industry (Henry & Diane
2017, p. 13).
2.4 Leadership
Leadership is a processor ability where a person can easily influence the behaviour and actions
of individuals or groups of people. This is one of the most basic requirements of being a leader
that the person can lead the fellow people and manage a team. It is not an easy task; this task is
full of responsibilities, courage and concentration and passion towards its job or goal. A leader is
always responsible for the fellow people of the team. I would consider myself more of an
adaptive type of leader; the adaptive theory is one of the most suitable according to my

leadership style. In an adaptive approach, the leader can make people influence for those
challenges for which they are not ready first (Bennis & Warren 2013, p. 635-636). Many of my
friends and family told me that I always encourage them to do their best. I quickly was being
able to understand where they need to improve themselves. It will be helpful to me if I enhance
this leadership style and become more comfortable with others as well. Things would be easy for
me in my career, as I have to become more able to more good with the fellow employees/teams
while working in the hotel industry. For running a successful kitchen and fulfil all the
requirements of the customers, it is required that I can easily handle teams with confidence and
make them happily work with me under my leadership for a long run because employee turnover
could be a problem for the hotel industry. Work pressure and rude leaders/senior staff could be
the best possible reasons for it (Bennis & Warren 2013, p. 635-636).
2.5 Power and politics
Power is the capability of an individual that shows the conduct of behaving others. Politics is the
use of force to attain the benefit of the organization or individual within it. The efficiency of
energy depends on experience, knowledge which they were working on an extended period. The
power and politics are co-related that effect to each other. The positional power includes
managerial ability that highlight personal power is a benefit to do role very effectively. The
personality also includes political attitude and behaviour of the organization. Deterrence theory
is a theory that represents the relation between social and international relationships in terms of
strategy. Deterrence theory is using for the capability of inflicting harm that reducing threat in
political affairs (Ito, 2014).

Impact on career growth of politics and power
I learned a lot of things which give importance to office politics at the starting of my career. I
received early promotion in respective of my work. After seven years company is rise as ABP
role, the identification is that what I think for the right formula for was getting ahead. The impact
of this component provides a positive effect on my career. Personality test theory reflects the
right direction to build career growth. The power and politics decide in his favour. The power of
an organization shows any high-risk project can be implemented. This influence the person to
more impact on the person to flexible in the environment and situation can be controlled. This
can benefit the individual to attain government and MNC company jobs. Politics is helping to
sustain and improve the position among competitors in the environment. Power plays a vital role
in both personal and positional level. By because of ability, a man can reach the ambition of his
career. Performance can be utilized for effective working.
Decision making and planning
Decision making and planning are correlated concepts and are essential terms that assist the
business organization concern in the attainment of the better command and supervision
concerning all the activities and events(Toplak and Weller, 2016). Planning and decision making
are the most critical steps regarding managerial functions. Planning provides for a suitable
procedure for selecting the best option among the series of the available options. On the other
hand, decision making is a process of choosing the best among all the alternatives. The aspects of
the decision making and planning needs to be accurate and useful such that the company concern
can attain proper sustainable and growth prospects.

Besides, while considering all the working patterns in the environment of the dynamic nature, the
activities are exposed to the series of the factors that tend to affect the work operations
excellently. As such, the prospects of the company are also changed. For the propose, it is
essential that the company concern focuses on the proper parameters so that the appropriate
authorities can make better decision making (Toplak and Weller, 2016). Also, for the attainment
of the better command and supervision, the following sets of the benefits that can be gained by
the company concern with the parameter of the decision making and planning:
The proper collection of strategies can be formulated that can be used in the environment
of the dynamic nature so that to have suitable command.
The company concern will have a better and enhanced level of productivity leading to
increment in the profit margin
Assist in providing the proper guidelines that can assist the business personnel in the
better conduct of future activities (Hung, 2015).
Ensure suitable control mechanism on all the activities and operations leading to the

Conclusion
This report helps to identify the essential characteristics or elements of the self-awareness of the
personality, and my influences for choosing my career path has been discussed in this report. The
five aspects of self-awareness has been explained, which are the most helpful things to identify
my strengths and weakness. It is a requirement for an individual to make it understandable the
strength areas and weak areas as well because it would be beneficial to achieve success in
choosing the right path of my career.
