Introduction
I generally define my existence in the society by analysing my position, our family and
friends, the desires and expectations of the mind. I am a student studying management and
business at Deakin Business School. It is very much important for me and others to analyse
and understand one’s self as it is the main key to unravel the mysteries of life. Self-awareness
is known as the discovery of our innermost being and is more about learning in order to
understand the behaviour and response of individual or mine. The purpose of the assignment
is to analyse self-awareness and understand own behaviour, personality, attitudes and
mindset. The assignment will include the reflection of the behavioural modes of thinking and
interacting along with the description on self-awareness. It is very much important for me to
analyse the current situation and evaluate present strengths and weaknesses.

Discussion and Main Body Analysis
Self-awareness is defined as the primary cornerstone to the concept of emotional intelligence
and this specific ability to monitor the perceptions and emotions from one situation to another
is considered as the main key to analyse and understand people and ourselves better.
Furthermore, the self-aware people tend to react consciously instead of acting passively, in
order to have a appropriate psychological mental health and to devise a positive perception on
life. In other terms, the concept of self-awareness refers to the situation of being self-aware
and possessing the confidence of who I actually am (Nilson, 2013). It relates to the
understanding and acknowledgement of my own beliefs, values, preferences and many more.
I believe that high self-awareness enables me and other individuals to analyse and monitor
our individual behaviour and it is very much crucial to effective on-the-job performance as it
has enabled me and other individuals to respond and react to the interpersonal interactions
faced inside the classroom. It can be said that self-awareness is crucial and important because
it helps in having a better assessment and understand of one’s self and the opportunity to
experience myself as a separate and unique individual (Moeller and Goldstein, 2014).
The concept of self-awarenesss evolves from self-analysis and specially from the
acknowledgment of my own behaviour, personality and perceptions. Attitudes are defined as
the evaluative statements that is exchange with an another individual to respond to a specific
object or thing. The emotions I choose to act on depends on the determination of my own
attitude which in turn, reflects my own behaviour. Attitudes differ from one situation to
another situation and this is why attitudes is considered as one of the less stable facets of my
own personality. My own behavioural way of attitude is derived from the society and other
factors including my own past and present experiences. Strong and negative attitudes tend to
mainly impact the personal and professional relationships that an individual shares with other
individuals. Perception is defined as the specific process by which I evaluate and manage
information. It can be said that my perception on an individual or situation can be overall
uniquely different My own individual perception regarding something is not always
consistent with reality because it completely depends on my own interpretation of the reality
(Silvia and Phillips, 2013).
My aspect of personality is a outcome or result of nature i.e. the natural traits with which i
was born or something i.e. known as heredity. Self-awareness is considered as a essential
skill in order to progress and develop in a personak and professional manner. I need to build

my level of self-awareness as this will help me in capitalising my own strengths and
weaknesses and devise strategies and plans for compensating for the specific limitations or
implications. An essential part of being self-aware is possessing the potential to monitor and
initiate behavioural changes in the specific ways I think, act and interact with other
individuals. I need to especially focus on the aspect of my self-improvement, as this will
provide me with the opportunity to demonstrate my own willingness in order to grow and
develop, increase my own potential to develop strong and close relationships in the field of
career and life. Some of the various strategies that I need to focus on in order to gain self-
awareness are online assessment, journaling, receiving feedbacks and reviews to recognise
people, analysing my own experiences. However, the first step to become self-aware is to
assess my own strengths, weaknesses, attitudes, biases and many more (Marton and Booth,
2013). In order to conduct self-analysis, I need to step back and monitor every factor in an
objective manner that will tend to influence or impact my own behaviour, thoughts and
interactions.
Reflection/Action
Plan
1. The one or two areas in which I am most strong:
My main strength lies with organising things, being consistent
and developing specific systems. My self-managed traits and
developing skills are the key strengths in my career and these
strengths will help me in mukti-tasking in my favourable fields.
2. The one or two areas in which I need improvement are:
My character andd personality tends to be pleasant but my main
weakness lies when I am working in collaboration with other
students and individuals. I always find myself at the contrary to
the perceptions and opinions of others.

3. If I only did one thing to improve this area, it would be to:
I would implement the strategies and plans for gaining self-
awareness i.e. by considering online assessments and
identifying individuals with whom i relate to.
4. Making this change would probably result in:
It would result in the behavioural changes in the way I act, react
or interact with other individuals.
5. If I did not change or improve in this area, it would
probably affect my personal and professional life in the
following ways:
Failing in understanding my relationship with other
individuals and students
Set a meaningful life and career objectives and goals

Conclusion
It can be concluded from the assignment that the understanding of self-awarness has enabled
me to take appropriate and profitable decisions i.e. considering a realistic appraisal of my
own requirements and demands. In this assignment of “Self Awareness” the purpose was to
understand the importance of self awareness along with the acknowledgement regarding the
importance of personal and interpersonal communication. It has been concluded from the
assignment that self-awareness is believed to be the initiating point for effectiveness in the
classroom or at the workplace. There are various areas or points of mine where I need to
inititae effective change in order to understand the result and outcomes of the self-analysis
conducted. Cultural differences also play an important part in my self-analysis and this is
because some specific cultures are scoped and termed as individualistic. The assignment
includes the description and behavioural understanding of my own behaviour, traits and
perceptions along with the demonstration of the strategies that help in initiating behavioural
changes.
