Section A
One of the most interesting concepts that were discussed in the class lectures refer to the
various motivational theories that were discussed within the due course of the lectures. The most
interesting of the lectures that were conducted on the motivational theories highlighted the
discussion on the self-determination theory of motivation. The self-determination theory of
motivating employees highlights the fact that individuals tend to maintain a proper control over
the actions that they undertake at their workplace. The motivation of the concerned employees is
highly dependent on the approaches that are undertaken by the employers of the organization.
The theory further suggests that the employees of the organization choose to abide by their
psychological needs in order to gain the proper motivation that they require for the completion of
the duties that they have been assigned. The theory suggests that the optimal nature of the growth
and functionality is achieved by the satisfaction of the innate needs of the individuals. These
needs refer to the concepts of autonomy, competence and relatedness that are maintained by the
concerned individual. These needs are observed to have been present among the individuals
irrespective of their cultural backgrounds and genders. The theory further suggests that the
introduction of the extrinsic rewards like the financial remunerations tend to help in the inducing
the proper amount of the motivation to the concerned employees as well. The inclusion of the
proper extrinsic motivation towards the employees are observed to have been affecting the
intrinsic behavior of the employees as well.
Section B
The study on the self-determination theory of motivation helped me in understanding the
various factors that would help in motivating the employees of the organization in maintaining
the proper workplace behavior as well. The lessons helped me learn about the various intrinsic
factors that might help in the maintenance of the motivational levels of the employees as well.
This in turn would affect the overall performance that is demonstrated by the employees of the
organization thereby leading to the betterment of the organization at large. The knowledge would
help me in developing my workplace skills as well as motivate myself in serving the concern in a
better manner as well thereby helping me in achieving my set goals.
