INTRODUCTION
I am a first year student who have learnt various skills, knowledge and creativity during
the academic study. I have learned how to be successful student which help me becoming a
professional. So in this presentation , I will discuss what skills I have learned and how they help
me in my academic study and and becoming professional. Apart from this it will cover the areas
or skills that I need to improve so that I can be a good learner and be able to face the challenges
that may occur in future.
Task 1
Success for a student like me not only getting good grades but also it help me in
becoming strong for the career in the chosen field and make me competent to pursue the selected
course of study and to be a professional(Blieck and et. al., 2019). So to ensure success, I have
developed some academic skills so that I can achieve the goals and become successful.
Academic skills are the accumulation of the learning habits, strategies, time management tools
that help me in making development. These are made up core skills such as academic writing,
presentation skills, critical thinking and reflective practice. These skills encourage me to become
a most effective learner. I give me confidence to participate in the extracurricular activities
while handling various assignments. As a student, there are various skills that I have develop
during my study of academic which are depicted as under. So here are the skill which are
depicted as under:
Attendance and punctuality: By developing this skills, I can manage time and be able to
learn I need to be in time(Rasheed and et. al., 2020). It build the path to success for me in life and
make me enable to plan ahead for better career by making effective routine and pre-active for
the coming task. It increase my credibility and give me a sign of expertness.
Take notes: This skill encourage me to more active in learning and assist me to prepare
for the exams. Note taking enable me to organise the information into an understandable format
which provide me assistance in my study.
Listening skills: Active listening help me to enhance my performance in the classroom
and promotes mindful thinking. It can help me in engaging in the important discussion which are
held in the classroom.

Writing and communication skills: These skills I have developed so that it can make me
able to explain or educate someone about the information and serves as a record for the future.
This can make me able in getting a good job later in life and also assist me improving my focus
and communication skills.
Reading skills: This skill can make me capable to build up my vocabulary and help in
cognitive development so that I may be able to solve the trouble that may arise in future(Lin and
Magnuson, 2018). It can help me in enhancing my problem solving skills and writing skill as
well.

Reading skills are very interesting to learn because it develops various another skills in
me such as it enhances the brain activity of mine. It helps me to encounter different ideas and
ways if understanding the world which compel me to consider what to believe. This skill enable
me to understand other people and their thoughts(Loveall and Barton-Hulsey, 2021). The most
interesting benefit to learn this skill is that it reduces stress when I read any book, article or blog
or any thing. These are more relaxing than listing to music, going for a walk and having a cup of
coffee or tea. It also helps in the symptoms of depression because it provide an affordable
treatment that may also reduce further medication. The most important profit of reading is that it
makes our mental health strong and reduce memory loss by engaging in the cognitive activities.
Students like me can improve their performance by improving the reading skills because it helps
me in critical thinking and improve reading comprehension skills. However, these skills are not
limited to the classroom but it can extend when I read throughout my life. So there are following
strategies to develop or improve reading comprehension and literacy which are depicted as
under:
Use prior knowledge to make connection: I can consider the previous learned topics
which help me improving and influence my knowledge or thinking. I may be able to connect the
previous learned topic to the text which I get as a new material and link with it.
Predicting: I can predict the ideas, actions, events and words that might come in the text
which help me in reflecting what I have learnt earlier by making accurate phrasing.

Visualizing: This help me when I read and encourage me to create metal image of what is
being read that help me in better understand of reading(Cottrell, 2020). When the pictures ate
shown so it make me capable to sense or smell that mater that are associated with the text.
Asking question and answering them: Reading skills brush up my skill of asking
question make me sense what question should I ask. This make me clarify and provide me
answer so that my confusion is removed.
Critical thinking: It requires that whatever the text is crafted it enable me to think and
understand in well manner with different point of view. The reading skills help me in generating
different perceptive that support the information when I read the text.
Explain about the areas where further development is required which is based on the reflection
from task 1
According to task one, it has been observed that there are certain areas where further
development is required. There are certain skills which needs to be developed according to the
reflection of task one. These skills include communication skills, writing skills, reading skills
and time management as well. Communication skills are very important from the professional
and personal point of view(De Leon and Santos., 2019). When there is good communication
skills then it allow others to understand information into more accurate and fast pace manner. It
is necessary to develop communication skills because it aids into all aspects of life because
specially from the point of view of business all the transactions result from communication. At
the organisational level, there are various departments which needs to be function into accurate
manner so for that purpose it is important to develop communication skills into positive manner.
Another skill which requires development into positive manner which writing skills.
From the academic point of view, writing skills are important because it act as an excellent tool
for communication. It basically reflects the assimilation level of an individual which has on the
particular topic or issue. Writing skills are also necessary because it help in terms of conveying
the acquired knowledge in the specific field of study. This skill also help students in terms of
analysing, understanding, focusing and thinking critically on style and technique. Writing skills
are also important because it help in terms of sharpening the imagination and creativity levels as
well. This skill is also significant because it help in terms of raising the confidence level on a
higher stake. So its very important to develop writing skills.

It has been observed from the task one that reading skill is very important to develop
from the academic point of view(Erol and et.al., 2016).A student who has good reading skill
because it will help in terms of performing better at the academic level as compared to their
peers and classmates as well. It is very important to develop reading skill because it help in
terms of making improvement into the reading levels of the students which lead towards the
better comprehension and achievement as well. Another skill which needs to be develop into
positive manner is the time management because it help in terms of doing the task into effective
manner within a set period of time. With support of effective time management, it is easier to do
more things within the less period of time.
According to this approach, their attention becomes focused and are also not wasting
time on distractions and it has also been observed that the time management also help in terms of
reducing the stress level as students tick off items from their to do list (Greenberg and et.al.,
2016). These are the skill which needs to be develop into positive manner from the perspective of
overall development of an individual.
Create an action plan which is based on the above task which includes target for yourself that
reflects about how intend to develop professionally and personally in the future
According to the above task, there are certain skills which needs to be develop into
positive manner with support of different kinds of goals which includes short term goals,
medium term goals and long term goals. The action plan is defined into the following manner:
 Short term goals: These are the goals which needs to be achieved in the near future The
near future can be in this spectrum which includes week, month and even this year as
well. Time management is a skill which can be develop into smaller period of time by
setting targets into effective manner for every task (Laurie and et.al., 2016).Breaks can be
given in order to relax themselves into positive manner and by organising the workplace
or academic desk into appropriate manner, the results can be achieved within a set period
of time.
 Medium term goals: These are the goals which takes a bit longer period of time and
these goals can be achieved in the next two weeks, a month and six months as well. It has
been observed that communication and reading skills can be developed under the
category of short term goals. These are the skills which needs practice for a bit longer
period of time so that results can be achieved into accurate manner. Without practice, it is

impossible to make improvement in these skills and these skills needs to be practised into
consistent manner so that gradual improvement can be made into this particular aspect.
 Long terms goals: These are the goals which an individual wants to achieve in the
future. These goals require proper timing and planning as well. Long term goals cannot
be achieved within a week and in a particular year. These are the goals which usually at
least several years away. Writing skills are the skills which needs to be develop under the
category of long term goals.
This is a skill which needs lots of practice, hard work, concentration and patience level as
well because on the basis of it results can be achieved into positive spectrum(Thanapud and
et.al., 2018). So writing skill can also be improved through grammar and spelling and in this
manner this particular skill can be improved through lots of efforts and with positive approach as
well. So in this manner, these skills can be improved into positive manner from personal and
professional point of view into future as well. At the professional level, they need to make
certain changes from the perspective of approach level and at the personal level these skills can
be improved by doing practice with their friends, relatives and close ones as well. In this
manner, the action plan can be implemented into positive manner for further development and
growth.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, I have concludes that there are various skills which help me
in improving myself and make me better professional so that I can get a good job in future.
However, the best learning skill is reading skill that help me to increase my cognition, different
ideas and so on. This skill also associated with the other skills like communication and writing
skills that assist to be more creative and active for the academic and professional development.
So, to understand the reading skill for performing task it is crucial to consider the text and read it
deeply to understand the meaning that help min organising and citing essential content.
