Introduction:
Communication skills are the various abilities that can be used when giving and receiving
different kinds of information like communicating ideas or feelings. The communication skill
includes listening, speaking and observing (Kwiatkowski, 2019). It also helps to understand
the variation in communicating through face-to-face interaction, over the phone or any digital
communications. Effective communication is a communication that happened between two or
more persons wherein the intended messages is successfully delivered, received or
understood. Effective communication not just includes the way a person uses the words but
also covers the various skills like Nonverbal communication, the ability to understand their
own emotions as well as of the other person. In this project, there will be a discussion on the
effective communication skills, which has been applicable in both the academic and the
professional context. Moreover, the project there will be an identification of personal
academic and professional needs by developing the appropriate action plan.

Task 1
Reflection:
It is required to have effective communication in life, which will help to develop better
relations in the professional and the academic context. It is known that communication helps
a person to connect with another person and it plays an important role in life. Communication
is simply the act of transferring information from one place to another (Gallois and Giles,
2015). It can be observed every communication can involve one sender, a message and a
recipient, which receive the message. There are various categories to communicate with
people, which are verbal communications, Non-Verbal Communication, Written
Communication, and another one is visual communication. However, major modes of
communication, which has been, used the most that are the verbal and non-verbal
communication. I have understood that a good communicator can able to speak and connect
to other people with effective communication skills; moreover, they have the ability to
deliver precise and clear knowledge to others.
Effective communication is related to listening and speaking, however, the effective
communication can also be done with the non-verbal communication which includes the
facial expressions and the gestures (Moore et al.2018). Moreover, I have seen that there are
7C's for effective communication, which includes the Correctness, Courtesy, Clarity,
Consideration, Conciseness, and the completeness.

Effective Communication Skills
To have a better career in the future it is required to have effective communication skills.
Effective communication skills will help me to grow in my professional and academic life. In
academic life, communication skills are important for a successful career. In present
competitive world communication skills is one of the major skills, which has been demanded
by the organizations. Reading, Writing and listening carefully are the three most important
communication skills. As regards reading and writing, the only thing that I need to tackle is to
adapt with growing age and concentration. With the help of these two qualities, it is possible
to develop reading, oral communication skills, and writing skills. Moreover, it has been seen
that the reading and the writing presentations, reports and the speeches are a part of the
school's curriculum all these things have been introduced in the schools and the colleges for
the overall development of the students.
Academic life for a student can be termed as the foundation. How the student communicates
in the academic life will define how the student is going to communicate in professional life.
 Early Emphasis on reading is very important: it is required for me to become a
good leader that will help me to enrich my vocabulary and knowledge. I can able to
communicate in most of the topics because of the right Knowledgebase which has
been developed with the reading (Hebert and Hauf, 2015).
 Emphasis on Writing: Moreover, in the academic session it has been seen that by
becoming a good reader it is also required to become a good writer. By becoming, a
good writer does not mean to become a novelist. Good written communication skills
will help me to express in a correct tone and put the idea across effectively.
 Emphasis on Presentation as well as in Speeches: as a student, we have many
issues which in presenting the ideas or the project. This can be occurring due to the
fear, less confidence and many more. It is important for me to participate in the
presentation and the speech based activity that will help me to get my fear out.
Many effective communication skills are there and it is important in professional life.
Effective communication is important for the company executives, their business managers,
team members, and the new job applicants. They have to know how to utilize communication
tools and techniques to serve better.

 Motivation: The motivated employees are an asset to the business organizations and
the effective communication will center rounds the usage of the words. Using the
right tools to communicate with the right messages at the right time can salvage a
crisis and motivate the people to work better to achieve success.
 Impress the client: With the help of the effective communication I can able impress
the clients through oral communication, which I will use in the business meetings, it
will create a huge impact on the audiences if I will able to make an influences thought
effective communication.
 Better Decisions: In professional life, it is necessary to improve the company's
business and it can be done by better decisions. To make the better decision it is
required to communicate with the employees of the company to gather the
information that will help to increase the business of the company.

Task 2: Development of Academic and Professional Development:
It is essential for me to identify the development needs, which can be a very challenging task
to execute. It has been observed that we often go for the various training courses, which has
been available and later decide which one of the training will help me in the most favorable
way. Therefore, it is required for me to identify the various skills, which will be required in
the academic and professional development. To identify the skills, which have been required,
can be done with three stages:
 Identifying the skills required for the Job: it can be seen that for every job role in
the organization there is a requirement, which shows what are the things that have
been required for the post and what is expected from me. In addition, with the help of
the person specification will help me to develop the skills, experience, and
knowledge. For example, if my role in the organization is communicator, then what
are the skills that will require performing at the job.
 Current Skills and Knowledge: after analyzing the job requirement I need to
identify my currents skills which I have right now and for that, I need to ask myself
questions to the various findings that how much does it match against my skills. It is
necessary to for me to ask a question, which will help me to understand my needs,
which is related to the professional development needs and all the findings, which I
will find, will be honest.
 Comparing the actual needs with needs to identify gaps: for me, it is
understanding the need and it should be specific this will help me to decide how can I
successfully address my developmental needs. Moreover, with the help of identifying
the gaps, I can also able to review and even measure success. For example, if I want
to learn about the various tools while working on the company. it is required for me
to even understand close tools which will help me to provide a better scenario of
working in the actual tools.
With the help of the three stages I will able to identify my professional and academic
development requirements which have been mentioned below:
For professional Development Needs:
 It is required for me to understand the job description of the other peoples and the
various requirements.

 Meeting with the team members and observing their work at the workplace
 It is required to gather additional information related to the post and its work
 After gathering the data it is required to prepare and analyze the data
 After analyzing it is required to determine the action steps which will help in the
organization.
For Academic Development Needs:
 For academic developmental needs, I required to take proper approval from my
teacher
 I need to do self-evaluation
 It will require a chance to prove me better
 It will require to have better ideas which will help me to identify the developmental
needs
 I will be required some of the tools
 I Need to make the learning strategies.

Global Awareness:
Global awareness can be referred to the conceptual based learning, which will help the person
to gain relevant knowledge about the social, environmental and the cultural issues, which has
been revolving around the world (Gaudelli, 2016). It can be said the concern of the
employability is growing day by day as it has been seen that the advancement in the
educational sector. It has been seen that there are many issues occurs in employment like
employability skills, employment-related questions, and its success and failure. It has been
seen that the requirement of skilled employees has been raised in a few years. The
management of the company focusing on the candidates, who have better skills before joining
the workforce.

Therefore, many of the researchers put immense pressure on the subject and they have been
explored its subject from a different perspective. There are many concepts of the
employability which have been described by many scholars:

According to Ang (2015), Employability skills include personal image, interpersonal skills,
and good habits. It has been seen that many of the organization are suffering from loss due to
the less availability of skilled employees in the market.
The teachers must use modern and job-related teachings, which will help them to get a better
job after graduating from schools or colleges. Providing better skills at the school can help
the organization to get better employees from the market. There are much awareness can be
provided to the students of the higher education which will help them to become a better
person as well as a citizen:
Self-Awareness: it is one of the essential part which is required for the workplace in which
they can able to manage their own strength and weakness and able to overcome those issues.
Self-awareness can be done with the help of the feedbacks, which has been provided by the
seniors or the customers.
According to the global skill, gap one of the many possible reasons for the narrow horizon of
the schools. Most of the curriculum has been outdated which does not support in the modern
days related to the work.

Conclusion:
Based on this project it can be understood that the need for effective communication is
necessary for both the professional and academic life. It has been seen that the
communication skills will help me to develop better understanding related to the work and it
will help me to understand the studies as well. There are two major communication skills
which have been identifying one is verbal and another is non-verbal communications.
