1SELF-DRIVING CAR
Introduction
Self-driving cars are vehicles where human drivers are not usually required for taking
control in order to operate the vehicle safely. Besides various advantages there had been
numerous disadvantages that are faced by users, this essay describes regarding various
dilemmas that are faced by the automobiles industry in terms of decision making and security
concerns of the users.
Body
When a particular self-driving car meets with an accident, the liability is on all if the
entities, the car manufacturer, driver as well as the software manufacturer. Car as well as
software manufacturer must state clearly regarding the responsibilities as well as liabilities
and what are the duties as well as due diligence that must be carried out by a particular user.
The users must also have detailed knowledge regarding the activities that must be carried out
by a passenger before having a ride on the vehicle.
Various insurance companies would have to drop if the rate of accidents are reduced
to minimum. Self-driving cars had been introduced in order to reduce the number of
accidents over time, besides this the accidents that occur due to some technical issues or other
related issues would be covered by different perspectives of insurances.
Implementation of standard artificial intelligence within the autonomous vehicles has
numerous pros and cons these are mentioned below
Pros: pros of implementing artificial intelligence would be the fact that the overall
number of accidents that occur due to various human errors would be reduced to a huge
extent, the vehicles would not need the passengers to know regarding the traffic rules or

regarding not following a traffic signal. The passengers would not need to have knowledge
regarding the ways to drive a vehicle.
Cons: the cons in implementing artificial intelligence within these vehicles include the
fact that there might be various ethical dilemmas when it would be difficult for the vehicle to
choose, in this case if the vehicle takes a wrong decision, it might prove to be very dangerous
for the passenger as well as the manufacturer. One more con that must be considered in this
particular part of this assignment includes the technical issues within the vehicle, the
technical issues that persists within the automated vehicles might also prove to be most
dangerous for passengers and people travelling on the road.
I don’t think the manufacturer of vehicles would accept this particular mandate
because the issues involved in this particular process might prove to be very dangerous for
the passenger, individual on roads as well as the reputation of the organization. This would
help them in obtaining the authority to carry out a certain policy for this particular issue.
The vehicle software’s must not be not be treated equally because in level one the
compete authority is provided to the driver and in level two, half of the authority is provided
to the driver and half is provided to the vehicle, similar is the case of other three levels. In all
the cases there exists some advantages as well as disadvantages, as a result, the software’s
must not be treated equally. All the levels must be provided with similar level of care in order
to prevent any sort of accidents or technical failure. In cases where the entire authority is
provided to driver there are chances that the vehicle would face accidents due to human error
and in case of vice versa the accidents due to technical issues might occur.
Conclusion
From the above report, it could be concluded that along with providing various
advantages, the driverless cars also provide numerous disadvantages, these issues have been

mentioned in this essay. It discusses regarding the issues faced in the process of decision
making while manufacturing of these vehicles in a detailed manner.
