1EXPRESSION OF SELF ESTEEM
Introduction:
The essay aims at discovering the reactions of the colleagues on a state where I declare
myself as the best Cloud computing expert of the company. Self-esteem defines the overall
subjective emotional evaluation that defines the worth of the person (Baumeister 2013). The
essay analyses the colleague’s reactions depending on the organizational culture and the cultural
expectations common to the people of Malta. The essay also puts forward my thought if the
behavior of the coworker’s is different from the predicted cultural expectations.
Reaction of the Colleagues and Why Such a Reaction
My self-esteem has motivated me to make a declaration about being the best cloud-
computing expert of the company. Self-esteem focuses on the beliefs that one possess about
himself or herself. I believe that self-esteem holds an importance since it is an important
determining factor of thoughts and behavior. It helps in changing the feelings of a person about
oneself and at the same time adds value to it. Self-esteem makes you more confident and
influences your thought in a bigger manner.
I work at a place in an organization in Malta. Maltese cultures helps in defining the
correct behavior and etiquette based on familiarity, age, status and social connection. The
Maltese people range from being reserved to courteous, warm and expressive. The majority of
the people in Malta speak both English and Maltese (Galea 2013). These people also speak
Italian. The official publications are in English, Maltese languages while the commercial, and
business documents are in English. The Maltese people are Roman Catholics whose freedom of
religion guaranteed as constitutional right.

2EXPRESSION OF SELF ESTEEM
I have seen Maltese people as being courteous and friendly. These people are informal
and prefer creating an atmosphere of trust building before the performance of any sort of
business activities (Carbonaro 2015). Since people in Malta speak in an exciting and animated
manner, therefore I believe their initial reaction about me being the best cloud-computing expert
would be of excitement. The people of Malta are quite open-minded and I believe that they
would accept what I say with open arms. There are varieties of workers at my workplace in
Malta. This includes the office gossiper, the comedian, hard worker, storyteller, the yes man and
the moaner.
The Office gossiper refers to the news reporter who has information regarding every
possible staff (Lis and Navarretta 2014). These people take my Self-estimated declaration and
spread it like a wildfire thereby resulting in some negative as well as some positive reviews. To
some, I being the best computation expert might seem like a manipulative step to move up the
ladders. This is so because some of them also possess a strong sense of identity.
Then there is the comedian who uses the humor in building positive relationships with the
colleagues. This character makes use of several tricks for reaching the heart of the people. These
people would take my stance as the most hilarious anecdotes that might have two connotations,
one positive and the other negative.
Then there is the over committed or hardworking colleague who is not only the first but
also the last person to leave the office (Catania and Randall 2013). He is the one who does not
take unnecessary breaks and has boundless enthusiasm towards work. To such a colleague, my
self-esteem could hear his or her self-esteem who might think himself as the potential contender.

3EXPRESSION OF SELF ESTEEM
The yes man of the Maltese company never misses an opportunity for impressing the
management. They give positive nod to every activity assigned to them whether they like it or do
not like it. To these people my intention would sound a bit weird as they consider them the most
efficient of the lot.
The storyteller of my company will however make newer stories once they come to know
about my declaration (Baldacchino et al. 2015). This can be on the positive or the negative side.
Depending on its storytelling capabilities, he might give a positive or negative perspective
regarding me to the rest of my Maltese colleagues and help them develop a viewpoint.
Like most other, my company also have moaner who is someone who always complains
about everything. These Maltese people will never take my belief positively as they will have
something or the other to complain. However, when asked to be vocal about why they would not
like to support me they would be the first person to back for the fear of confronting.
Conclusion
The essay discusses about how my Maltese colleagues perceives me on declaring that I
am the best Cloud Computing expert of the company. The essay put forwards some views about
the importance of self-esteem and the reactions of my Maltese Colleagues. There are discussion
about the concept of self-esteem and its role in acting as a motivating factor. The essay also puts
forward discussion on Maltese culture people and their perception about my declaration. This is
important since I work at an organization in Malta. The essay also gives an overview of different
perception of different colleagues since the workplace consists of varieties of workers. By going
through the essay, one can conclude that employees having higher self-esteem will not only trust
their judgment and thinking but are also able to make better decisions. However, there exists no
