1SELF EVALUATION
This assignment is done to evaluate the participation of the school in the topic of the
applied counseling in rehabilitation. The objective of this topic was to learn different types of
awareness in the skills of counseling. The theories could be helpful to provide support to the
counselor as it provides the best practice and support to people by the use of the micro skills.
These skills might be used verbally or non-verbally which can help to change the situation in a
person and to increase the quality of the life of person (Geldard & Geldard, 2014). Hence
according to the participation in the lecture, discussion of the tutorial, reading of notes and
experiences of engagement in learning with my fellow students; I will grade myself for the
evaluation.
Before attending any lectures the students must study the readings and some of the
information that were given on the flinders online site during the whole semester. I have taken
some steps which can facilitate and help in the better understanding of what they are going to
learn from the lecture and their classes. During these experiences, I achieved different learning
which includes the skills and the qualities which the counselors must develop so that they can
support a person effectively who is seeking for some support (Geldard & Geldard, 2014). The
good understanding and the micro skills of the process of counseling could benefit the person
who is seeking for the support of counseling and results in an improvement of the clients those
who are seeking support. It was been highlighted that the professionals of counseling can
successfully help the people those who are seeking some help to solve their issues. They are able
to do this by demonstrating the micro skills that includes showing empathy, building a rapport,
being an active listener, using minimum response, by asking some non- judgmental questions, by
reflecting the feelings, by paraphrasing and by summarizing (Mcreynolds, Runmrill & Koch,
2004).

I also observed that through some of the videos that were provided in readings and
lectures the way which some of the qualified professionals generally behave with the people
those are counseling of the people with the elderly people, the disable people and some other
groups those are mainly vulnerable people seeking for counseling. They are using some
approaches as for example person centered therapy, cognitive brain therapy and narrative
approach for the counseling. For assessing the skills that I have learnt I undertook an interview
where I have got the chance of practicing skills of micro-counseling. In addition to this I had to
review a paper; evaluate the skills of counseling and use different approaches of counseling.
Therefore, from these experiences, I had gained some new learning which will help me to work
in my future as a developmental educator. The aptitudes those I had thought will be useful for
my vocation which incorporates having sympathy, attentive person, compassion, reflecting
feeling, capacity to rewording and condensing. These abilities will turn into my apparatuses
which improve individuals' personal satisfaction. I consider being the best apparatuses on the
grounds that respects to every one of the instruments for this subject, for example, readings,
addresses, instructional exercise classes talk and review the guiding video the directing abilities
were the best in satisfying the needs of the clients. For example, I took an interest in making
inquiry in the address, sharing lived encounter stories; all I saw was the stunning undivided
attention or consideration from both class mates and the teacher.
It proposed that as guide ought to abstain from asking the inquiry order inquiries or
requesting what reason questions (Geldard & Geldard, 2014). Moreover I learnt the self care is
an apparatus that could be useful for the advisor a similar path to the customer prosperity in
overcoming and controlling injury, weakness, enthusiastic, weight and lessening torment in
defeating (Christopher& Maris, 2010). Generally speaking, I have learnt a great deal that will
