Ans1. My research area is family and community research sector. My research focuses on the
self management and health related issue of people in family and in community. I will be
focusing on promotion of health protection of self and community I live in. I have a great interest
in this topic and have studied in this field in the past. I also have expertise in qualitative and
quantitative research methods. I was also involved in studying the barriers to healthy life style of
community people in a minority population. My research centers around prevention and
intervention of chronic illness for the treatment and promotion of healthy habits in self,
community and family. I try to utilize epidemiological perspectives to understand the
connections between the thought process of human and their health practices. I will try to
minimize the health disparities and improve health outcomes.
I will be doing my research in Self-management of health and illness. Self management is
very innovative, dynamic and interactive method in which individuals engage to manage various
kinds of chronic illness. It means that the individual has ability to manage the symptoms, take
care and deal with family, community, and healthcare professionals by self. It works by
managing the lifestyle changes, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual alteration. To maintain a
satisfactory quality of life one has to develop self-management skills of cognitive, behavioral,
and emotional disciplines (Bradley, Lindsay, & Fleeman, 2016). Broadly speaking it is a method
of healthy lifestyle behaviors followed for a complete growth and development of individuals.
Ans2. My long term educational and professional goal is to achieve self management specialty
so that I can work along this expertise to solve problems of individuals and community related to
chronic illness. Chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, are killing
individuals on daily basis. These are only some few global health diseases. These chronic
illnesses are long term, uncertain and scaring (Majumder, Cogen, & Monaghan, 2017). These

illness generally ends up in long term disability or death in most of the cases across US. By
taking appropriate actions like starting the treatment as early as possible, taking medications
effectively, managing complex routine, minimizing the psychological consequences on health,
and systemically indulging into healthcare system can minimize the impact. Short term goal is to
get the PhD to understand the chronic illness management to practice it in recognized in health
care sector (Nicholas, & Blyth, 2016). Working in this field will enhance my skills for future
duties and responsibility in health care system. PhD gives me more in-depth knowledge of this
subject and will help me in researching in a new direction in this disciple.
Ans3. Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and Case Western Reserve University is known
for providing excellent coach to the researchers who wants to complete their PhD in health care
sector. They have a very good past records and that is what attracted me to take their assistance. I
would like to take help of Donna Dowling, PhD, RN as Faculty. She is experienced and has a
good knowledge in this field and working with her in this research will help me gain more in-
depth knowledge of this topic.
