Introduction
Self-motivation is the ability, which identifies the effective method of any person
getting himself move from the thought to action (Bjork, Dunlosky and Kornell 2013). Though
everybody is different from one another, there are some individuals, who are highly motivated
towards their workings, whereas other requires the imposition of the external deadlines, or
some types of reward and penalty for moving forward from thought state to action state
(Brown, Currie and Kenworthy 2015). This study will include self-motivation and the self-
management techniques for working independently in the project and involves the relevant
examples of working independently in the project.
Self-motivated and able to work independently to deliver project outcomes
The STAR technique addresses the responses of the individuals based on the situation,
tasks, actions and results that are required to identify initially for self-motivating and self-
managing. The situations are needed to be identified for the self-management, and only the
ideal situation will allow the individual to perform with self-motivation. The tasks need to be
determined first handed as this will help the individual to make a concept of making the
performing schedule. The actions should be done by the individual himself without any help
from anybody and also without depending upon anyone. The results will reflect the self-
management strategies and how well the individual has performed in completing the project
work.
Self-regulation focuses on the ability to affect the personal and the professional growth
that is based on self-awareness and self-motivation. For self-regulating the employees need to

provide the direct supervision on their project and need to set the deadlines by their own for
the completion of the research project. The employee also needs to make the formal
requirements on their own, which would include the progress reports, oral presentation and the
final written report (Dweck 2013). The outcome is also required to be desired by their own by
self-participating in the project and needs to have the ability to achieve those outcomes.
Working independently is one of the abilities, which most of the employees’ desires to
cultivate in the undergraduate charges is the independence (Gurrin, Smeaton and Doherty
2014). Working independent means that the employees need to become self-aware and they
must know how to self-monitor, and they should also know how to self correct themselves.
The self-management involves the criteria of knowing what a person needs to do and also
taking the initiative of performing on their own, without depending upon anybody or waiting
to be told regarding what to do. The employees need to learn to work at the pace, which
anybody could sustain. The self-regulation and management also involved that the person
needs to take ownership of their own mistakes regarding their own mistakes without looking
for any mistakes (English and Kitsantas 2013).
Experience in project
In February 2011 to August 2011, the Guiyan pharmaceutical co., Ltd, in China had
given a chance to their employee of working independently as the data analyst for the project
and was given an opportunity of completing the project work by him. The employee was
determined to complete the project work within the mentioned span of time.

Thereafter he has cleaned and resolved the cancer drug data that was merged from the
various data sources into the single integrated dataset. The developed routine MACROS was
created for developing the tables, listings, and figures. He also built the new MACROS and
altered the new MACROS for producing the customized graphs using the statistical
procedures like PROC GPLOT. Then he has implemented the SAS\ ODS for creating the
output files in the various formats including the RTF, HTML, and PDF. Then he finally
completed the project of data analyzing independently by finding out various cancer’s drug
data and conducted the hypothesis tests and also compared the performance of the different
generations of the cancer drugs.
In Guiyan pharmaceutical co., Ltd, it was one of the complex projects of evaluating the
data sources as the big data analysis requires time and it was the analysis of the big data
related to the cancer drug. This was one of the complex events as for these the further project
on the cancer drug cannot be accumulated and carried forward. Thus this reflects that the self-
motivated project can lead to great success and bring out the desired outcome and this project
was able to be completed within the mentioned span of time by the proper self-management
techniques and by remaining self-motivated throughout the project work (Urry 2016).
Conclusion
Therefore from the above discussion, it can be concluded that self-motivation and the
self-management techniques lead a person to complete their workings independently without
waiting for someone. The independent project work as the data analyst reflected the
completion of the successful independent project by following the self-management
techniques and becoming self-motivated throughout the project work.
