Introduction
In most of the organizations, such a thing is highly encouraged as people achieve
success while working within the organization. As a result of this, individuals working
within an organization are given a great deal of importance for their individual qualities
of ensuring that the organization can grow in a better manner. This assignment focuses
on four different core skills, and based on the reviews collected from tutors and peers,
these skills are analyzed. The skills that are chosen for the completion of the
assignment are time management, public speaking, team working, researching and
finding.
The main aim of the project is to understand the different core skills in such a manner
so that it helps to develop a person in a proper way. This report is mainly an analysis of
the different core skills that will help of develop a person in a personal and professional
manner.

Reflective Journal
The reflective journal is based on the development and analysis of the four core skills
that I have chosen in order to complete the assignment. The skills that I have chosen
are time management, public speaking, team working, and researching and finding. I
have chosen these skills because some of these skills are present in me and I am using
it a proper manner. However, some still needs to be developed and used in an efficient
manner.
Journal Entry 1
What is the core skill?
Time management: Time management skill refers to the way by which time is
allocated for different tasks that I am undertaking. It also helps me to accomplish the
given task within the stipulated amount of time. An employee with proper time
management skill will be able to work in a systematic manner and will increase the
efficiency of the organization as a whole (Whetten and Cameron, 2014). With the
help of time management skill, I can easily create a proper balance between by
personal life and work life.
Why is this core skill important? Why did I select this skill to reflect on?
Time management is considered very important in our day-to-day activities. It helps
me to understand the ways by which I can use time in an efficient manner. Almost all
the activities that I do during the entire day, some of these are productive for me. I
can allocate my time according to the importance of the activities that I am doing.
I chose time management skill to reflect because it will play an important role in
developing my future as an employee when it comes to working for any company of
my choice. Besides this, time management skill will also help me to reduce my work
related stress, if I am able to allocate my timing accordingly. I think individuals should
possess time management skill, as it will help him or her to increase their standard of
work.

Taking my current competence into consideration, time management skill, according
to me is at a satisfactory level. According to the feedback provided to me by my
teachers and peers, I should learn to prioritize my tasks and look to complete them
within time. I should stop wasting my time over things that are not important to me.
Apart from my teachers and peers, I too think that I am unable to allocate time
properly.

Yes, I can identify contradiction in relation to what my tutors and peers have
reviewed. They have judged me completely on the basis of my previous performance

to the requirements of my tasks.

Development of my time management skill will be very useful for my future. It will
help me increase my productivity and allow me to work in an efficient and effective
manner. Moreover, the skill will also help to work for the company in such a manner
so that I can achieve my goals within the company. It will help me to consume less
time and I will be able to work and achieve more (Grissom et al., 2015).

What is the core skill?
Public Speaking: The core skill that I have chosen in order to reflect is public
speaking. Public speaking skill is the skill with the help of which one can deliver

speech in front of a live audience (Chen et al., 2014). It mainly aims at making the
group understand the main perspective of the speech. Competent public speaking
skill can be displayed with the right uses of words and phrases so that the audience
can understand the speech easily.

Public speaking skill is very important for career and personal life. This skills is useful
when it comes to addressing a crowd. It helps to win over the crowd by making them

method to ensure that a group of people has been informed about a certain topic or
task needs to be performed. I also think that proper public speaking skill can motivate
people largely. Speakers use this skill to ensure that their message has been sent
across to all the people listening to the speech.
Public speaking skill will be helpful to me in numerous ways. By reflecting on this
skill, I can develop the skill and use it to shape my career in my professional life.
Besides this, if I get feedback from my tutors and peers, I will be able to enhance my
skill. Furthermore, I will also be able to make use of the right set of words and
phrases to get my voice heard.

that I could develop my skill even more. My tutors and peers were of the view that I
have developed my skill largely however, I could develop it more by working on my
public speaking skill.

me by my tutors and peers. According to them, I have developed my public speaking

the skill. However, my previous acquaintance with the skill was not up to the mark.
Due to which I could not speak in front of an audience.

Development of public speaking skill will have a major impact on my future and will
help me to build my career in a proper manner. I can use this skill while working for
any chosen company so that I can address a group of people without much difficulty.
Besides using it for my professionalism, I can also use it for my personal

stage (German et al., 2017).

Team Working: Team working skill is used to work with a group of people in order to

With the help of proper team working skill, I will be able to work in collaboration with

Researching and Finding: This skill is mainly used in order to complete an assigned
task with the help of different types of researches and findings. The skill mainly
focuses on the capability of an individual in terms of finding and researching about
their given topic. Individual can also gather authentic data and use them to complete
their task.

Researching and information finding is considered very important in terms of
conducting a research. I can use this skill in order to research about a current issue
and develop my understanding related to it. It will also help me to strengthen my

Yes, I can identify certain contradictions based on the above feedback. I agree to the
fact that initially I was not that acquainted with public speaking skill, however in the

feedbacks I received were based on my past incompetency with the skill. Now, I have

developed the skill to suit the need of the task that I wish to accomplish.

Researching and finding will help me in all the future tasks that I undertake. If I
develop the skill, I will be able to conduct proper research and will be able to suit the

This section of the report is mainly an analysis of the different strengths and
weaknesses that have been identified in the course of the project. With the help of this
analysis, I will be able to understand the areas that need to be developed in terms of my
core skills. Besides this, I will also be able to ensure that I am making proper use of the
different strengths and weaknesses in my day-to-day activities. This will help me to
develop my personal as well as my professional skills in a proper manner.
Strengths:
The below mentioned are some of the strengths that I have identified in the course of
the report. They are as follows:
 One of the major areas of my strength is that I have the required time management
skills that I use in order to develop myself in a desired manner.
 I am also able to complete my tasks within the given span of time and it has helped
me to achieve the set goals easily.
 My public speaking skill is also another strength that I use in my day-to-day
activities.
