Through my experiences of volunteering ‘Feed My Starving Children’ (FMSC), I
gained a better insight into a leadership role through the act of serving. Servant leaders
through their analytical sketch of the organization serve the organization accordingly. Feed
My Starving Children is a nonprofit Christian Organization located at Richardson, Texas. The
organization along with the participation of Servant Leader is dedicated to mentoring and
taking care of the well-being of every child. Servant leaders are the ones who focus on the
growth and well being of the people of the community. They pay attention to the needs of
others first and provide development and help in excelling in their performance (Spears &
Lawrence, 2016). Being a servant leader in FMSC, I always follow the vision and motive of
the organization, that is, to remove the starvation and malnutrition in children globally by
instilling the moral values and compassion in the generations in need. The duties of servant
leaders are set following variant schedules. It includes children’s food packaging that
contains rice, soya, vitamin powder and vegetables, it further proceeds the process of
weighing and sealing them. Through serving, I realized that a servant leader essentially needs
to have the virtues of empathy, love, compassion and humility and accountability (Fmsc.org.,
2020). A servant leader of our community is also focused on exercising the commitment to
Christian principles that help the organization in fundraising, packaging and distributing food
for the needy children. Therefore, through the analysis of the role of servant leadership, it is
concluded that a servant leader is always committed to the progression of others in the work
environment.
The service in our community is recognized by an active contribution to the
development and performance of the community. Following it, a servant leader through their
active participation and contribution, they develop a better sense of analytical skills through
the task of taking care and mentoring of the children. Children possess a variant spectrum of
behavioral attitudes (Fmsc.org., 2020). It is our duty to deal patiently and nurture the traits

which are essential for them in the future. Through observance and dealing with various
factors in nurturing and managing and facilitating everyone’s needs, the character of a true
servant leader is built. Through serving and its experience one gradually learns in embracing
the traits of empathy, awareness, healing and conceptualization (Fmsc.org., 2020). These
qualities that I gained from my experiences, would lead me to a successful future, provided
with the fact that these skills are essentially required in the role of leadership in any
organization.
