AI Summary
This document presents a comprehensive Windows Server 2012 deployment proposal for Global Advertising, Inc., addressing their need for a robust and scalable IT infrastructure across two locations. The proposal details the configuration of six servers, with core services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file and print sharing, and a web server (IIS). It emphasizes the use of Windows Server 2012 for its enhanced features such as Hyper-V, PowerShell 3.0, and improved Active Directory functionalities. The report outlines the implementation of a single Active Directory domain (GAI.CORP), organizational units (OUs) for departmental management, and the use of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for software deployment. Furthermore, it addresses the configuration of DNS and DHCP servers for network functionality, and the implementation of a dedicated file and print server with DFS for efficient file sharing and storage management. The proposal also stresses the importance of fault tolerance, suggesting RAID 5+0 configurations for storage. The proposal concludes by highlighting the benefits of the deployment, including centralized IT management, scalability, and data security, ensuring Global Advertising, Inc. can meet its current and future business needs. This proposal is available on Desklib to assist students with similar projects.

Deployment Proposal
Abstract
Global Advertising, Inc. requires a solution for their primary IT services, comprising of
descriptions, execution, and configuration of deployment. It is concerned with executing the best
solution there is ensuring that its' necessities are met, that is, both now and in the near future. In
the coming years, they will be undertaking business in two locations, Los Angeles, and New
York. Network security and secure protocols are already put in place, and the deployment
proposal focuses on the server configuration, installation, and provisioning of services. After a
full evaluation of Global Advertising Inc.’s necessities, I have come up with the following
deployment approach and proposal.
Characteristics of Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2012 has new functionalities, for example, Hyper-V, PowerShell 3.0
and Server manager. This server administrator allows administration of multiple servers, whether
remote or local through one console. Hyper-V administrator provides an interface for an
administration of virtual networks and machines. For Windows PowerShell 3.0, it enables
administration from a command line and secures from disconnection through Robust Session
Connection. Active Directory has also been innovated in order to incorporate Domain controller
cloning, Dynamic Access Control, and GUI functionalities that establish PowerShell commands.
Through a single console, IP Addresses can be controlled, these IP Addresses encompasses the
entire firm networks. In this proposal, I propose that both sites be installed with the same
configuration so that they are uniform and to allow the tolerance of fault. Also given the
recommendations, I presume that both sites have very good security protocols that are reliable.

Deployment and Server Editions
What will benefit Global Advertising, Inc. more is an implementation that has the
following features: fault tolerant, consistency, scalability and most important being that it has to
be able to undertake primary duties enabling the enterprise to run smoothly. Three servers will
allow a server to be deployed to each location, one for DNS, Active Directory, and DHCP. They
should serve as one for Web Server (IIS) and one as a print and file server. Windows Server
2012 is more secure, hence this should be the choice to be used as an Active Directory server.
Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition should be used for the other servers. The similar primary
setup will be used for both locations.
Active Directory
Since the structure and size of the institution is currently small, one Active Directory
domain will be efficient. In Global Advertising, Inc., we will implement the native Active
Directory domain as GAI.CORP, and for user identification they can be replicated through the
Virtual Private Network to the domain controllers. With a scheme similar that will be
implemented by the human resource dept., ensuring that all the sections in the GAI enterprise
implement a fully writable Domain Controller comprising of organizational units (OU). There
will be different OU's for different departments, for instance, IT, Production and Media, Finance,
Human Resource, Executives, and Sales and Accounts.
Depending on the OU, Active Directory accounts assigned, users will be able to get
mapped to network resources automatically to devices, such as printers. The logon scripts carry
out this specific activity. Through this ability, users can access information that they only
require but are not allowed to access data that they do not have rights to. This is a requirement

for numerous departments such as human resources, where confidential employee information is
handled.
DNS and DHCP
Many servers’ features will be irrelevant without functional Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name Service (DNS) are lacking, as networks would not function
properly. These servers are required even for the most basic of enterprise networks, which do
not utilize any servers. In matching the Uniform Resource Locator to its IP address, DNS is used.
DHCP allows dynamic allocation of IP addresses hence why they are not manually configured
by the network administrators. DHCP will allocate an IP address to the host whose expiration is
beyond 24 hours. DHCP will be implemented through a distributed scheme across the GAI
network. Its performance can be improved through making it fault tolerant. These network
resources will be configured with static IP addresses so they can guarantee administration and
availability.
Application Services
Active Directory should be implemented in order to lower the workload of the IT
department. Through the creation of GPO’s by Active Directory, this enables the software to be
installed for users in accordance to their assigned OU. Unlike installing manually, the software
can be customized for each user in an assigned OU. Through the implementation of this method,
license costs are saved since an individual license is used. Administrators do not have to install
the software for a user who needs it, freeing up time for other management tasks.

File and Printer Sharing
Dedicated Server 2012 will be used to handle file and print services. The printer, file
share, and file system will be secured, through preventing access which is only authorized to
appropriate users on the network. Distributed File System (DFS) schemes should be created to
enable information to be easily accessed and shared across DFS namespace. Users can retrieve
any shared information, using the main namespace, GAI, without taking into account which
server has it through a universal naming convention.
For each Windows Server 2012, a File Server Manager (FSRM) utility will be
implemented to allow the definition of quotas for specific file folders and shares. Additionally,
file server configurations and FSRM quotas will be managed through a centralized console
which will also alert IT personnel the need to incorporate more archive and storage data. GAI
servers track file utilization and access allowing for efficient auditing. It ensures that the storage
space to be maintained, controlled, managed and monitored effectively.
Storage
Storage is crucial for all the institutions. In this case, a product promoting firms would
require large storage space to store videos and images. Fault tolerance is essential since files are
the company's primary product. Other than taking it as RAID 50, it is better to take it as RAID
5+0. It can also be taken individual disks as a RAID 0 comprises of arrays of RAID 5. Through
this configuration, they will have adequate storage space, ensuring that organization's essential
data are kept safe by being fault tolerant.

Deployment Proposal
Summary
This proposal is to ensure the provision of a secure business network with the
incorporated abilities of Windows Server 2012. Through this deployment, consistency will be
achieved throughout the network. In the future, when there is a need for expansion it would be
easily done since it's scalable. The centralization of IT management, with the incorporation of a
vast number of activities would be automated through the application of Active Directory
partnership settings. Global Advertising, Inc. will be capable of undertaking all of their
enterprise activities without worrying about growth in the future. Similarly to having the ability
to undertake all their enterprise functionalities, Global Advertising, Inc. will also possess
adequate storage capability, through fault tolerance; it will be able to ensure product safety.
Thus it would assist GAI to be more successful in all their endeavors currently and in the future.
