2SERVER DEPLOYMENT IN ITTEC COMPANY
Background Information
Organizations throughout the world in this advanced technological era incorporate
servers to perform various essential tasks such as hosting data, retrieving files, establishing
networks and similar activities in IT. There exists various types of servers depending upon
the functional process required by a company (Afgan). For instance, a web server provides
with the HTML pages that a Web Browser request, whereas an application server determines
the business logic for a particular application program. An organization incorporates a server
system to store data as well as establish networks to transmit data amongst the IT devices of
the company. Hence, the necessity of a server is of high importance in an organization.
Business Objective
The ITTEC organization of Information Technology and Services in the United
Kingdom is an eminent part of the Education and Training Services that efficiently provides
technical services to various business schools and computer training institutes across the
nation. The objective of the nation is to provide knowledge about simulation, training as well
as education across various sectors in the country such as military, civil services or industrial
sector and connects them through various programs.
Problem Statement
The ITTEC Company is expanding its business in remote areas of the nation and thus
going through numerous technological changes in its system. Hence, it is in requirement of
the deployment of a cloud sever that will manage its data from all the branches of the
renowned organization and host them effectively on the request of the users. Thus, the ITTEC
Company is in utmost need of a server to be incorporated in its business process.

Critical Assumptions and Constraints
One of the most critical assumptions of deploying a cloud service is that the cost of
incorporating a cloud server is more than an on-premises server. Although setting up a cloud
server incorporates high costs, it provides ample amount of services than the on-premises
server solutions (Kovács and Kacsuk). Another constraint of deploying a cloud server is to
decide between a public cloud server and a private cloud server. In this case, the public cloud
server providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure are continuously
improving on their R&D and bringing in technological innovations that are not possible to get
in public cloud servers (Abhervé and Almeida). The biggest constraint in deploying cloud
servers in an organization is the security risks on the infrastructure. The company of ITTEC
needs to incorporate tight security management system in order to prevent leakage of data or
breaching of networks in their cloud servers.
Analysis of Options and Recommendation
It is highly recommended of the organization of ITTEC to choose the cloud servers to
store their data in central repository such that the organizational executives can avail
to the data from any branch and enhance their business solutions.
Although the cost of setting up cloud servers will be high, it will create a great impact
on the solutions provided by the company. Acquiring a hardware and setting up the
server on-premises will not be beneficial for the company in this technological world.
Moreover, it is also recommended to conduct security reviews after adopting the
cloud servers to ensure data security and integrity on a regular basis. The organization
should rely on the standard practices of security models such as ISO 27001 or COBIT
model framework to avoid breaching of networks and theft of data.

Preliminary Project Requirements
The initial requirement for deploying a cloud server is to build the infrastructure
according to the requirements of the ITTEC Company. This requires creating a server,
naming it, setting up an image, selecting the specifications of CPU, RAM and hard drive and
finally ensuring a password to it (Anand). The next step involves creating a code and
uploading it to establish connection with the server. The same root admin password should be
given for establishing the connection to the server. Finally, the test suite should be checked
for the deployment of the services (Brockman and Hill). However, making the employees of
the organization about this new technology is also a primary requirement of the project.
Effective communication amongst stakeholders will help the deployment of the server in a
smooth process.
Budget Estimate
The budget estimate of deploying a cloud server will comprise of determining the
current IT infrastructure cost of the company of ITTEC. This comprises of both direct costs
and the indirect costs as well. The direct costs will specify the cost revolving around the
changes in the hardware as well as the software. It also consists of the costs of the network
bandwidth, database storage of the servers and other similar technological services. Next,
comes the operational costs that include:
The cost for maintaining the security of the servers such as implementing firewalls,
strong encryption algorithms and other security technologies (Wu, Liu, and Lee).
The cost for maintaining a 24*7 Internet connectivity.
Other infrastructure costs related to cloud servers.

Schedule Estimate
Migrating to cloud servers is not an easy task for any organization. This technological
change will require a certain amount of time and the following steps to accomplish before
completely incorporating a cloud server.
The first step is to decide between a private and a public cloud server. The ITTEC
Company should take a week’s time to discuss with all its stakeholders about which
one will be advantageous.
Secondly, the company should decide on the right technician for deploying the server,
test the suite and finally ensure maintenance in the later stages (Muratore, Lennox and
Tsagarakis).
Thirdly, the schedule will be dependent on the number of applications used by the
organization of ITTEC. The more the number of applications, the longer the time it
will take to configure.
Potential Risks
Leakage of attacks due to malicious attacks and breaching of network of cloud servers
(Lin).
Risk in the security processes provided by the vendor of cloud server solutions.
Legal Risks associated with data security regulations.
Risks in features controlled by the vendor.
Risks associated with the availability of data to the vendor as well as the Internet
Service Provider.
