Abstract
In recent years, interdisciplinary research in the filed of
sustainability and that of supply chains have gained some
extensive attention from the scholars and researchers world-
wide. Service supply chain is one of the many parts of
supply chain and is completely dedicated towards providing
service on the products. It helps in addressing the supply of
the materials, services, personnel and parts that are
necessary for providing timely and effective product service
like maintenance and repairing. This poster has elaborated
on assessing the influence and prevalence of sustainability
in the service supply chain.

Globalization and Politics
- The world market is changing rapidly, While the politics
of a particular region determines the viability of the
different aspects of the service supply chain management.
For instance, the resources in one particular area could
become scare within few hours in a neighbouring nation
that suffers from a collapse in economy. However,
according to the study of (Ansari and Kant 2017),
economies in modern era have become highly dependent on
the progress and the actions of the other nations while
thinking regarding the global impact of Supply Chain
Management (SCM). With the same, one one hand, one
area might demand for some greater imports of a particular
product and on the other hand, the other area might
suddenly drop from the screen of order fulfilment. In such a
perfect world, the influx of the different orders can remain
as it is in all over the world and the only way of combating
such concern is by means of some careful analysis of the
trends in the market in the different nations, particularly the
ones that depend on the state of the economy of a nation.
According to Darkow, Foester and Von der Gracht (2015),
the service supply chain management need to consider very
carefully how the different technological factor affect the
economy of every area for forecasting the estimated needs
and requirements for a particular product in that very area.
Resource Use-
-In United States, the Consumer Protection Act requires the
companies to disclose the materials that are used in the
process of manufacturing. Finally, this is the governmental
ensured poor process of manufacturing that are not being
used and this could also threaten the environment and the
ability of humanity to survive. Reporting of these use could
become highly complicated because every piece of
machinery involves the usage of minerals in the production
of machine. For instance, in the steel and aluminum
industry, the steel and aluminum in the machinery represent
the use of minerals and hence, zinc, iron and steel and
aluminum need to be reported to the SEC.
Telecommunications and Data Centers-
-It is to note that telecommunication comprise of a
broad range of processes within the service supply
chain management (Centobelli, Cerchione and
Esposito 2017). It comprise of both outbound and
inbound marketing, conference calls, company data
and consumer data transferring and storage,
marketing efforts and communication in between
the various departments within the company among
the others.
One of the other key aspects of the
telecommunication to consider in this context is that
of security. Keeping the business and consumer
information confidential and safe has become a
significant topic of concern in modern days. It is
more important while considering the different
potential impacts of the stolen identities (Ansari and
Kant 2017). With the same, the various different
online criminal activities could result in financial
ruin and extortion while destructing in the particular
company.
Sustainable Supply Chain Technologies
Today, the companies all around the world are implementing
sustainable supply chain technologies as one of the part of
their broader initiatives. For instance, it is not very
uncommon for the companies to implement the supplier on-
boarding, information management solutions and the
development which would help in reducing the costs of the
supplier management and lower down the supply risk as well
and at the same time, would also capture and report on the
supplier metrics related to sustainability.
There are increasing number of organizations world wide
who are capturing the green supply chain metrics as their part
of process of strategic sourcing on the basis of their supplier
selection decisions on different range of factors which look
at the sustainability factors along with the costs (Darkow,
Foester and Von der Gracht 2015). There are several
organizations like Google, Coca Cola, Parle, Pepsi Co. that
are investing on their sustainability of service supply chain
solutions and they include engineering and R&D.

Conclusion
Hence, it is to state that effective service quality helps in
increasing the satisfaction of customers and this in turn
helps in increasing the level of customer satisfaction. With
the ever increasing trends to the outsourcing business
processes as well as the possibilities of moving all these
processes to the offshore locations, it has become important
for the companies world wide to focus and pay more
attention on the improvement of the means or source of
obtaining these services for the customers. With the same,
the ever increasing interconnectedness of the customers and
the manufacturers in the contemporary businesses is
demanding a rapid solution for the potential problems and
the proactive actions for minimizing the downtime for all
the practices of supply chain
As per Tseng et al. (2018), service industry business at
present account to about 2/3rd GDP of United States and
about 8% of the economic growth of the country. As per the
study by Evangelista, Colicchia and Creazza (2017), it has
been suggested that the purchased services have been
averaged to 39% of the net purchasing spending.
Notwithstanding this fact, about 69% of the surveys
conducted by the professionals of supply chain
management have indicated that the purchasing services is
much more difficult as compared to the purchasing of the
goods.
In the ever increasing trends to the outsourcing business
processes as well as the possibilities of moving all these
processes to the offshore locations, it has become important
for the companies world wide to focus and pay more
attention on the improvement of the means or source of
obtaining these services for the customers. While the after
sales support give a comparatively low risk and long term
system of revenue, especially when the customers own the
products for some extended period of time, like the ones
they do in the aerospace industry, where the lifecycle of the
products could be as long as 25 years. According to
Halldorsson (2019), improvement in the service quality
increases the customer satisfaction and this again increases
the sales of the new product. As the outsourcing grows and
develops and the manufacturing of the products becomes
highly competitive in the market, some effective support in
the after sales helps in driving the opportunities for
enhancing the value of the customers.
As claimed by Liu et al. (2017), effective and sustainable
supply chain management process considers several factors
unlike the traditional supply chain management. In this
digital era, it is to note that the service supply chain
management has been evolved for including the
technologically complicated functions like the use of cloud
computing for the various different applications and the use
of IoT (Internet of Things). Apart from this, some
additional telecommunications processes have also been
used in the process. Moreover, the ever increasing
interconnectedness of the customers and the manufacturers
in the contemporary businesses is demanding a rapid
solution for the potential problems and the proactive actions
for minimizing the downtime for all the practices of supply
chain.
For making the service supply chain sustainable,
technology is playing a significant role. Beside helping the
development of product, procurement and the teams of
supply chain meet the requirements of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR), implementation of the green supply
chain programs is lowering the costs of the services
delivery to a notable extent. It is to note that the supply
chain sustainability technology takes several forms and
they include the following:
a) Tools for tracking, measuring and reporting on the
supplier compliance to the regional global environmental
requirements like the RoHS directive (Restriction of
Hazardous Substance) of the European Union.
b) Proper solutions that will enable the organizations to
measure their carbon footprint of their respective service
supply chain.
c) Engineering based and sourcing solutions which will
enable the organizations to analyze and entertain the
alternative designing specifications as well as the cost
structures for the packaging and products.
d) Tools that would optimize both the outbound and the
inbound logistics for decreasing both the carbon footprints
as well as the product costs.
