Project
AI Summary
This project solution for CPCCBC5009A involves identifying services layout and connection methods for a medium rise construction project, specifically a high school renovation. As a Services Manager, the task includes creating a 3-D overlay sketch detailing water supply, sewerage, and drainage systems, adhering to the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards (AS NZS 3500.1:2003). The solution outlines the connection to town water supply or tank storage, positions of downpipes, rainwater tanks, stormwater lines, stack types, sanitary fixture units, and main drainage connections. It also describes the assessment and monitoring of sewerage and prohibited substance collection, treatment, and disposal, emphasizing the flow of sewage through municipal sewer pipes to wastewater treatment plants. The project includes a 3-D overlay sketch with notations of codes and standards, and a description of the assessment and monitoring process. Desklib provides this and many other solved assignments to aid students.

Introduction
This assessment has been designed to allow you to provide partial evidence of
your competence in the unit CPCCBC5009A Identify services layout and
connection methods to medium rise construction projects.
In completing this assessment, you will show evidence of your ability to:
· Evaluate commonly used methods of water storage supply and layouts
· Evaluate methods of sewerage and drainage disposal and their layouts.
Project 2
Instructions
For this assessment, you will use the scenario below to continue the role of
‘Billy’, a Services Manager for Sullivon Constructions. You will need to complete
parts a), b), c) and d) of this assessment to:
· complete an overlay sketch (using the 3-D drawing provided) to
communicate the water storage and supply, and sewerage and drainage
disposal, with contractors. You will sketch the position of the plumbing
fixtures and associated pipework. This will enable you to use your
completed sketch to demonstrate to the contractors the exact layout
required, as an example to the new project (see scenario and sketch
instructions below).
· show your understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), as well
as any relative Australian Standards.
· describe how the sewerage and prohibited substance collection, treatment
and disposal would be assessed and monitored.
Scenario
Consider the 3-D drawing provided as you continue your role as Billy the services
manager for Sullivon constructions. While carrying out his investigation for the
new High School renovation project proposal (see Project 1 assessment), Billy
has received some initial existing services drawings for this project from the ‘dial
before you dig’ service. He has found there could be a clash with the layouts of
this new development.
Billy has decided to call all his plumbing contractors in for a site meeting. Using a
3-D sketch he has developed of the services layouts on the project, he believes
he can explain what needs to be done in detail on the new job with this as a
reference. Billy really cannot afford for anything to go wrong on this new project
as it is too important for the continuance of his services staff.

On the isometric (3-D) template provided below, follow these instructions for
your overlay sketch:
a) Using a blue line and notations and standard drawing conventions*, sketch
the water supply connection and layout for the High School Project. Use a
blue line and notations to indicate the following on the sketch:
· connection to town supply or tank storage
· position of down pipes, rainwater tanks, and connecting stormwater lines,
which lead out into the open area for connection to the mains.
Note: once your sketch of the stormwater line is drawn approximately one
metre external from the building, you may simply note at its end “connection
to mains supply”, as this will vary on the new project and the mains
connection will be designed by the hydraulic engineer.
*Use these hyperlinks for standard symbols and drawing conventions Sewer
Service Diagrams and Skillstech Australia, pp.10-11. You may also use the
Campbell Drainage Plan sample to assist with drainage system conventions.
b) On the same sketch, use a red line and notations to show sewerage and
drainage methods including the position of stack types, sanitary fixture units
and main drainage connections.
c) As an addition to the sketch (or in notation form on the sketch), identify the
relevant codes and standards that apply to sewerage and drainage layouts,
including any reference to the plumbing code which is part of the NCC.

Plumbing Code of Australia 2015 Part B2
d) Briefly describe how sewerage and prohibited substance collection, treatment
and disposal would be assessed and monitored (maximum 100 words):
Once the water has been used, the sewage will flow into the sewage line within the building
then into municipal sewer pipes and then into larger, regional trunk sewers. Pumping stations
keep wastewater moving through the system until it reaches one of the region’s five
wastewater treatment plants.
Items to submit as evidence for this assessment:
1. Parts a) and b): 3-D overlay sketch
2. Part c): 3-D overlay sketch with notations (codes and standards)
3. Part d): completed response
