SETUP ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Abstract
Several researches has time and again proved the importance of Network design,
administration and engineering in the operating effectiveness of the network. The following
report studies such a network engineering for the small business organization GT7. First the
report, presents the network design of this organization and provides explanation of the
resultant WAN network. Then the report presents the setup of the active directory domain
controller and discusses the organizational units as well as the user groups and the involved
users. After this the report implements the DNS and DHCP setup and explains the mapping
with the domain controller. Next the report shows the backup of the DHCP configuration
taken thereafter. Then the report shows the setup of the IIS web server and its mapping with
the headquarters of GT7 and ends with concluding notes.

Figure 1: Network logical diagram
The above network topology diagram shows the overall network setup of the two branches as
well as the headquarters of the company. The branches at Goldcoast and Brisbane are
securely connected with each other and the headquarters over the internet through site to site
IPsec VPNs enabled in each of the routers. The branch at Goldcoast consists of 10 servers as
well as 10 sets of workstations and IP phones for the 10 different employees. The 10 servers
include file server, email server, print server, DNS server, DHCP server, domain controller
and the Sharepoint server. The branch at Brisbane consists of 3 servers namely the domain
controller, the DHCP and the application server. The branch also consists of 6 sets of
workstations and IP phones for the 6 different employees. Thus the two branches of
Goldcoast and Brisbane along with the Headquarters form the complete site to site WAN
network of the small business organization GT7 through the ISP or the Internet Service
Provider. Before the network reaches or is forwarded by the ISP the VPN tunnelling and
NAT configurations specify the path of network access thus securing and isolating
communication only within the company offices and thereby mitigating the external security
threats like hackers, malwares and worms.

Domain Controller
The active directory domain controller created for the network is patel.com. The domain
controller further creates organizational units for specifying the different users present along
with their respective user groups.
Organizational Unit GT7
User Groups: General employees, network administrators, branch manager
Users: A total of six users have been shown in the following demonstration. These include
two users from each of the three user groups.
