INTRODUCTION
The book review is referred to the summary of the book or it can also be defined as the
evaluation of book that describes both the weakness and the strengths of the book. This report
will review the book by Stephen covey. The book name is “The Seven Habits of Highly
Effective People.” The report will address the main theme of the book and it’s also going to
analyse the significant part of the book.
MAIN BODY
The book Seven Habits of Highly Effective people is centred around the personal
development of an individual which helps them to have successful interactions and an effective
communication (Covey, 2020). Stephen Covey never claim that his book will offer the instant
miracle but the slow transition process will offer the positive change. The assumptions of the
author are right at some point at these habits has been useful to change perspective of life and has
helped many people to overcome with the difficulties they are been facing.
The author has focused upon the seven habits of life. 1st,2nd and 3rd habit deals with the
idea of self-control and independence. These habits set out the basis of the skills that are required
in order to get success in life. The habit 4,5 and 6 offers the route and the direction towards the
successful life. At last the habit 7 offers the improvement techniques that related to the different
challenges that life brings. The author has been successful in creating the habits of an individual
that will help them to improve their careers (Daim, 2021).
The relationship between the manager and the employee are represented in such a way
that both brings productivity in the organization by following all the seven habits that has been
convey by the author. All the habits help both of them to attain interdependence by the process
that starts with dependence and then goes to independence and at last interdependence can be
achieved. It is related with the process that is connected with one’s inner core, character and the
motives.
The seven habits defined by the Stephen covey is to be proactive first that is related with
taking responsibility of life. This also says that you can’t blame your external factors for the
choices that one takes in life. The second habit says that it begins with end in mind which says
that the everyday of one’s life should be devoted towards his goal. The third habit chapters
define that put first things first. Always think win\win that is habit no.4 which is very important

to survive in today’s reality as without thinking the win\win outcome the one will not be able to
give 100% on the work he is doing.
The 5th habit deals with to understand first, then to be understood. This is important to improve
the interpersonal relations. Author defines that communicating clearly is an essential need to
increase overall effectiveness in the organization. 5th habit becomes very important for all the
members of the organization to bring productivity in the organization. Skill of listening must be
taught with little training. Synergy to the habit 6 that has been defined in the book. This is
necessary to build principle- centred relationship in the organization. At last the habits to
enhance all the habits has been discuses like the physical exercise, social exercise, the spiritual
and the mental one. All the habits have been clearly defining purpose of getting successful in life
in whatever situation occurs from time to time (Sameer, 2018).
All the manager must possess all the habits that has been set by the author, as the author
has incorporated all the habits that is necessary to survive in the organization and lead
organization to bring productivity. The good manager must have proper communication skill that
has been defined in the 5th habit while the art of listening is included in habit 6. Good manage
should have good habits that encourages all the employees in the organization.
To become a good manager is not an easy task the skill that I possess to become a
manager is the good communication skills and the art of listening that increases the ability to
lead other employees in better way. The weakness of me not to think the win\win situation will
have all the negative impact as manager must have an ability that always think positive for the
organization.
The seven habits of highly effective people set all the habits that one should have while
working. Managing employees is one such job that involves leading employees in the
organization and habits set out by the Stephen covey will help the managers in leading the
organization in best way possible. Management is diverse field and this habits will be most
useful not only to motivate an individual but to all the employees working in the organization
(AlManei, Salonitis and Tsinopoulos, 2018).
The most important part of the book is the chapter three that says put first thing first. The
convey wants answer for the following questions.
What one thing you can do regularly in order to improve one’s personal life.
What one thing that one can do for improving the business or professional life.

These two questions are very important to set out the goal and the direction to reach the
particular goal. These question help one to become aware of what they want and how they can
change the life that they are living at present. To manage time this is a very important step that
will going to lead one’s life in positive way.
CONCLUSION
The above report has reviewed the book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by
Stephen Covey. The report has discussed central theme of the book and the argument given in
the book. This report has also discussed the manager and the employee relationship that has been
represented through the book and at last has analysed the significant parts the book covers.
