SEXUAL AGGRESSION
It is the act of sex against the will of a person due to influence by alcohol, peer influence among
other factors. This includes oral sex, anal intercourse, and vaginal intercourse. Both men and
women are victims of sexual intercourse thus it's a big problem in the society which hinders
development due to the fears of insecurity among people (Hackett, 2017).
Sexual aggression has many adverse effects which include increased rate of HIV AIDS
infection. This is because people engage in unprotected sex which is very risky as it easily spread
sexually transmitted diseases like HIV AIDS which is a killer disease despite the discovery of
ARVs (Hackett, 2017). Through these deaths, the population becomes a small thus small market
for services and goods leading to a slow rate of economic growth.
Sexual aggression has increased the number of school dropouts. This is because of the rise in
unwanted pregnancies which force girls to drop out of schools and start families at early ages.
Eventually, there is fewer women empowerment thus reducing economic growth in the society
since women are just seen as objects of sex rather than objects of building the society too like
men do (Slotboom, Hendriks & Verbruggen, 2018).
Additionally, sexual aggression leads to trauma among victims. The trauma affects the
psychology of that person which later on reduces one's self-esteem (Slotboom, Hendriks &
Verbruggen, 2018). Afterward, the full potential of the victims is suppressed and not put into
action as expected thus reducing development in the society and worldwide. Sexual aggression
is a major concern in society and needs to be stopped to promote development at large.
