INTRODUCTION
Academic literacy skills elaborate the ways through which one can become proficient in
reading and writing about their offered academic subjects (Hadiyanti, 2018). This report will
illustrate challenges, ways to acquire, ways to apply and still facing struggle practices into
specific academic skills.
MAIN BODY
Challenges faced in academic skills
With the complete self-evaluation, I have realized that there are certain skills in which I
am still lacked behind than others in somewhat manner. While completing my course, I have
realize that I am facing issues related to my problem solving abilities. This had been evaluated
by myself, when my tutor provide us numerous projects in order to finish them appropriately.
Within those projects, there are certain questions which required expertise knowledge and skills
in order to resolve them and thus due to my weakness, I was not able to solve those questions
along with unable to finish my project on the given deadline. On that day, I realized the
significance of enhancing my problem solving ability as it increases my frustration and decrease
my confidence level in front of my colleagues. Moreover, I also faced issues in asking my
doubts to my tutor as I felt nervous in public speaking which was always the primal reason for
my failure.
Learned academic skills
In context of discussing over academic skills, it plays a vital role in personal as well as
professional development of an individual. There are varied skills that I have learned during my
courses such as time management ability, communication, decision-making and various similar
kind of skills. In discourse of time management and decision-making qualities, I can interpret
that both the skills enhanced our knowledge along with assist in completing the work done
within the stipulated time duration. With appropriate decision-making ability, I will be able to
take difficult decisions within my professional life. Furthermore, communication skills also help
me to enhance my career into more progressive manner (Yulianawat, Hasanah and Samsudin,
2018).

Application of learned academic skills into social and health care
Over the basis of above discussion, I can illustrate that there are various skills which
helped me to build my career into health and social care. Through the enhancement in my
problem solving abilities, I will be able to solve issues of patients with utmost priority manner
by identifying their problems in effectual manner. As in social care, we required to work
responsibly and disciplined manner, thus increasing my abilities will definitely help me further
into my career development. Apart from this, with the improvement in my this ability, the
confidence level within myself also increases.
Ways of enhancing skills for career development
Over the aspect of above discussion, certain actions will be taken by myself such as:
