INTRODUCTION
 Digital disruption can be defined as
changes that may affect technology
markets and other related aspects such as
industry and process. This is a major
hurdle in achieving business goals.
Transformation takes place due to new
digital technologies and business models.
Furthermore, innovations can impact
value of goods and services sold in a
particular industry.

Definition of Digital Disruption
 Disruption in literal sense, may
have different meanings, in context
to digital it has been defined as “the
rapidly unfolding processes
through which digital innovation
comes to fundamentally alter
historically sustainable logics for
value creation and capture by
unbundling and recombining
linkages among resources or
generating new ones.”

Impact of digital disruption on business
 Digital disruption is about changes in
existing technologies through innovations.
It has huge impact on the business of
organizations due to emerging new digital
revolution. Areas like productions,
relations with customers, operations etc.
gets affected. It involves risk which may
provide positive as well as negative
outcomes.

Data as business tool
 Data refers to information or statistics in both qualitative and quantitative
forms that helps a business in understanding number of aspects. It is
gathered through different sources which can be either directly such as
questionnaire, survey etc. or indirectly. It is used to attain certain
objectives of a business.

Questionnaire and its purposes
 A questionnaire is defined as structured form containing questions to
collect information from various respondents. It can be in written or
printed form presented in a formalized way. Furthermore, the questions are
asked about a particular topic. It is treated as a technique in which
questions are expressed in a specific sequence. The ultimate objective is to
have information which can be used in number of purposes.

Sampling technique
 Sampling is a techniques which is
used in research to gather data to
be used for getting results. There
are different techniques under this
which may be used to according
to need and suitability. In this
report, random sampling has been
used.

Industry
 The degree is of business
management and the knowledge
gained will be applied in shipping
industry. Shipping industry is one in
which large quantities of goods are
moved from one place to another. It
is a reliable way of transporting
package to its ultimate destination.
Primarily, the waterways were being
used for this purpose and shipping
industry was known for it only.

Total number of respondents
 The participants selected for answering the questions amounted to total of
50 which included board of directors of DPD and its employees at higher
and lower positions. Majority of people answered all the questions.
However, about 5 people could not answer due to number of reasons such
as absence, no adequate knowledge and capabilities to answer etc.

Questionnaire

Amended questionnaire
 According to some of the participants, the questions in original
questionnaire needed some modifications to make it more appropriate to
understand and answer them. Earlier, some questions were written in a
brief manner which did not have the right meaning or intention of the
researcher. Thus, alterations were done to make them appear more
intelligible and interesting so that all the participants can answer them
properly.

Interview Technique
 Interview is a combination of two words “inter” and “view” which in
literal sense mean seeing each other. In involves an interaction between the
interviewer and interviewee. The objectives of an interview is to ascertain
information and verify them. There are different types of interviews which
can be used on the basis requirement. Some of the forms are structured,
unstructured, stress, behavioural etc. The interview technique used is semi-
structured. Semi-structured comprises features of both structured and
unstructured interviews.
