1. Background of the project
The paper mainly reflects on “SIGMA Consulting” that helps in providing world class project
management related consulting services to a number of organizations. The main goal of the organization
is to continuously grow and gain profitability. The Project management Intranet site will be helpful in
supporting the goals by enhancing the visibility of the firm expertise by allowing access to intranet to
some of the client as well as public. It will be quite beneficial in minimizing the internal cost that is
mainly provided by a number of standard tools, project management knowledge as well as tools. As six
SIGMA consulting is generally focussed on the proper identification of profitable projects and proper
measurement of the value after completion such that the project must meet proper criteria. It is found that
the presently the company utilizes Web site for marketing various types of information. It is found that
the primary use of intranet is for managing human resource related details. Furthermore, the firm also
helps in tracking different types of information by effectively focussing on the status of the project
deliverable for meeting, scope, goal as well as project time and cost. Sigma consulting generally hires
experienced consultant for managing the project however due to the growth within the business, the
project becomes complex and therefore the project team is suggested to purchase access of specialized
software for supporting the new capabilities with improper in-house development.

If the project activities are not successfully managed then the project not only faces delay but also
faces budget related challenges within the project.
If the new system that will be developed does not run the existing software as well as hardware
properly then the organization will need huge amount of tech support and therefore, both the
clients as well as consultants faces issues in accessing information.

It is found that following assumptions are made in the project:
The proposed intranet site must be one of the valuable asset for the entire SIGMA consulting and
therefore it is assumed that the current consultants as well as clients must properly support the
entire project and it must properly pay for itself by successfully minimizing the internal operating
related cost for the successful generation of new business.
It is assumed that the office of project manager must successfully lead the effort so that the entire
team must properly include participants from various parts of the entire company for the present
client organization.
Furthermore, it is assumed that the entire work of the system must get completed within the time
and budget that is estimated within the initial phase of the project. Moreover, the new system
generally run on proper hardware as well software and therefore it generally requires very much
minimal technical support.
