Introduction
In this research the limelight is thrown on the company ‘Singapore airlines’ that is
delivering excellent services in the competitive world. Technology has been an integral part
in an organisation and the HR department. In this research the discussion is about the
challenges faced HR when integrating technology into the system. Technology has impacted
the organisation in a positive and a negative manner.
Technology has integrated the HR practices of Singapore Airlines
Singapore airlines have achieved sustainable success due to integration of technology
in HR department that face the challenges regarding all the disasters or difficulty in the
system. High tech technology is used to manage the navigation and lower the risks by
working properly on the marketing and operational strategy (Adp, 2018). Technology is
important in human resources management as it helps in getting global standard of the
business. It helps in improving the performance and using strategies to achieve the objectives
(Happy ,2018). Like in case of Singapore airlines, technology helps in increasing labour
efficiency by updating the process control method. Additionally it helps in HR department to
make better selection and do recruitment by using social media. Technology plays a crucial
role in providing training sessions and delivering successful motivation to the staffs. Apart
from that this helps in managing payroll of employees and it provide an easy way to
supervisor for monitoring the performance of the employees (Brewster, 2017). Technology
plays an essential role in enabling HR groups to move from personnel management to
business execution as they use internet to share data across different department easily.
Technology has provided benefits in recruitment process, communication as well as data
analysis.

Challenges faced by Singapore airlines when technology is implemented in HR
department
There are various challenges faced by HR department of Singapore airlines when integrating
technology into practices. The technology used in the system need to be adopted in very
sector so that automation of process can be done. There are various employees who are not
aware about the latest technologies thus HR department need to provide employees with
proper training sessions so that they can easily use the technology. Providing training session
to employees increase the cost for the company (Avgerou & Walsham, 2017). In case of
Singapore Airlines, employees face problem while communicating with each other as
employees belong to different culture. HR department need to organise certain programs to
overcome with the issue due to diverse culture (Emeraldgrouppublishing, 2018). Other
concern by using technology is it increases the chances of data leakage, as hacker tries to read
the information which can cause lack of integrity and confidentiality.
Effects of technology on HR department and the organisation
Technology has affected the organisation in a positive and a negative manner. Technology
has transformed the entire HR process by enabling the supervisor to hire skilled employees
from remote part of the world. This helps in increasing the diverse culture at the workplace.
Future, it is difficult for the HR team to manage the diverse culture as they need to organise
training sessions so that employees do not face any issue while co-ordinating together.
Additionally technology has enhanced the way to communicate between the employees and
has increased the opportunities by opening the doors for e-learning (Marler & Parry, 2016).
Technology has been beneficial for the HR department as they can monitor the employees
and keep track for their information easily rather than updating it manually. One of the most
critical goals for HR is to effectively manage employee performance by assessing their
current position and identifying high and low performers so that proper feedback can be

efforts needed to manage the performance of an organisation (Abdullah, 2018). It is
beneficial for an organisation to reduce the social distances by using social media channels to
communicate with each other.
Conclusion
It can be concluded from above discussion that technology plays a very crucial role in
the HR department of an organisation. Technology has provided a better way of
communication between the employees and has provided various approaches in the HR
department to speed up the efficiency. HR department also face challenges due to the
innovation of technology in the system as they need to integrate the use of technology in all
the employees by proving training sessions. It is beneficial in many ways as it provides a way
to monitor he employees and their ethical behaviour. Thus it can be stated that technology has
positively and negatively affected HR and the organisation of Singapore Airlines.
