AI Summary
This assignment is a case study project for the SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness, Module 4: Motivation and Psychology. The project requires a comprehensive analysis of two client case studies, Ben and Vidya. For each client, the report must evaluate their current level of motivation, commitment, and confidence, considering cultural and social factors, perceived and genuine barriers to exercise, and their stage of readiness for behavior change. A behavioral change plan must be developed, outlining strategies to motivate exercise behavior, incorporating behavior change models (e.g., health belief model, social cognitive model), and providing short and long-term benefits of regular exercise. The project also includes creating an implementation strategy with goals and strategies to overcome barriers and monitor progress, ensuring a prolonged commitment to the exercise regimen. The solutions provide detailed reports, behavioral change plans, and implementation strategies for both clients, demonstrating an understanding of motivational theories and practical application within a fitness context.

Case study 1 - Ben
Ben is a 12 year old obese male. His family does not have much money and therefore they often buy high fat take away dinners
rather than healthy nutritious meals. Ben does not play any sports or enjoy any sort of physical activity in his spare time. He has
extremely low self-esteem as he encounters regular bullying at school due to his weight. Because of this he is very introverted and
spends most of this time indoors playing video games. He has no interest in developing an exercise program and has only come to
see you as his mother insisted. Attempts to communicate with Ben are difficult and he can be rude and withdrawn when others
have made attempts to get him to engage. The only time he has demonstrated a positive interaction has been when talking about
the video games he plays with his friend Gordon. He has also expressed that he doesn’t need to change his behaviour and that he
is often tired and has no energy for exercise regardless.
Case study 2 - Vidya
Vidya is a 57 year old female who suffers from arthritis in her knees and has an ongoing spinal injury that requires regular
treatment. Vidya had previously been a very active woman engaging in regular daily walks and attended some classes at her local
gym with her friend Rebecca twice a week. Recently Vidya’s husband passed away and she has been reluctant to engage in any
physical activity. She has become withdrawn and reclusive and Rebecca had been unable to get Vidya to attend any classes or
undertake in any exercise. Vidya follows the religion Hinduism and has remained dedicated to undertaking the daily rituals
involved with her religion which including daily dawn worship. Rebecca had signed both Vidya and herself up for personal training
with yourself in order to try and help Vidya get back in to exercise however she is concerned that Vidya is being very difficult to
motivate and may have difficulties attending the sessions due to her morning religious rituals. Vidya has expressed that she wants
to get back into exercising but is feeling unmotivated and the clashes with her religious rituals are affecting her ability to commit
to this entirely.
