development and interview techniques are outlined in the report.
LO1: Exploring value of ongoing professional development and self- learning
Analysis of key advantages of ongoing professional development for various
stakeholders (P1)
According to Archibald et al. (2011), the professional development is an important task for
an employee, which leads to the improvement of the employee towards perfection. This is an
endless process, by which an individual can improve the ability of them and become more
competent for a task. Thus, after every successful achievement of an individual the
successive professional development should be performed. The advantages of professional
development process are as follows:
Increase preservation
By implementing the professional development program for an employee, the
organisation is able to make people more potent for a task. This will help an
organisation to promote their employees instead of eliminating. Moreover, this
technique is cost-effective for the organisation too.
Develop more creativity and increase confidence
This method of professional development is proven effective for making the
employee more potent and eligible for performing a large group of tasks. This
increases the creativity of the employee along with developing the confidence
among them. This would be beneficial for engaging them in several tasks needing
greater efficiency rather including new people.

PERSONAL SKILL AUDIT
The professional development plan is a great task for an organisation, which is
proven effective in rising of great and potent leaders from the team. Instead of hiring
people from outside, the organisation is able to involve their staff with providing
better career opportunity.
Recuperate the resources
The professional development program is beneficial for an organisation, as it helps
the organisation to manage the capital effectively. In addition, monotonous nature of
the work will also break by implementing this.
Improved efficiency
According to Harris et al. (2012), the most important asset of an organisation is the
efficiency of the employees. This method is able to increase the efficiency of the
workers and providing better opportunity for them.
Investigation of expectations of employer regarding skills and competencies (P2)
According to Moon (2013), the principle thing that an employer requires from his employee
during the selection is the ability to withstand in different adverse situations. On the other
hand, the employer often seeks proper skills for performing a task. This can be come from a
proper education of the employee, which often makes him prepare for performing a task.
However, the major source of improvement of skills is the experiences, from which an
individual is preparing himself for a task. Thus, often the employers are looking for different
experiences that an individual has during his career. On the other hand, Hamilton (2014)
argued on the fact of coming of skills from the educational qualification, as he commented
that the education or a degree neither prepares an individual for a task nor shapes him. This is
only comes from the experiences, on which the employers should be focused before
appointing a candidate.
LO2: Assessment of own skills, competencies and various learning and development
approaches
Assessment of own abilities and skills for Tourism Manager (P3)
Within tourism industry, one has to show exemplary interpersonal skills such as establishing
proper communication with tourist, analysing their demands and expectations and
accordingly taking decisions that lie to the best of interest for the company. In this context, it
is important that proper analysis of skills and quality of oneself would be conducted. This
will help in developing professional skills and be successful in their careers.

It is evident from the SWOT analysis that I have a strong educational and academic
background and this will help me in gaining sufficient knowledge regarding management
skills within tourism sector as a tourism manager. However, I become nervous in front of
peer groups. This will prove to be a hindrance while conducting meetings and communication
with customers as a manager. However, my rapport with professors will prove to be a source
of opportunity and help in overcoming my weaknesses. In addition, enrolment to linguistic
classes will also help in improving my communication skills. The class representative has
better communication skills owing to which he might get better access to jobs as manager. In
addition, many of the companies provide temporary employment based upon contract. All
such factors appear to be source of potential threat as far my career as tourism manager is
concerned.
Reviewing range of learning theories for initiating personal and professional
development procedures (P4)
As a tourism manager of Globus, it is important that I work in coordination with my team. In
addition, team formation forms to be an important factor within any business organisation as
expertise of all employees are utilised in a proper way. Moreover, through proper team
forming help in creating cultural awareness and implements respectable working ambience.
In this context, the Tuckman’s model of work helps in creation of teams within Globus. The
ideology is based upon five critical and easy steps namely Forming, Storming, Norming,
Performing and Adjourning (Butnaru, 2015). This model will help me in resolving conflicts
within teams and subsequently help me develop as a tourism manager.
As a manager, it is important that I conduct routine self-assessment of my performance in
order to analyse my working protocols. In this context, the STAR techniques form to be an
effective way to retrospect my previous decisions and actions. The letter S in STAR stands
for situation in which the barrier to organisation was encountered (Burnham, 2015).
Subsequently, T stands for Task. This encapsulates the activities that were required to be
performed for mitigating the shortcoming in Globus. A stands for approach that is the
