Portfolio 4:
Part A
The skills developed and the knowledge learnt as part of the COIT20249 were vital
for me. It is evident from the example when I along with two friends of mine got into a
heated argument with a group of other guys. The argument was based on a previous issue that
one of my friend had with one of the guys of the opponent group. Both of them were arguing
and instead of listening each other they were ready to fight. The other guys including me
were attempting to break the heat. After listening to both of them I realised that the both of
them were stating the same fact however, their approach was different. So, I and other friend
listened a little bit more and then I interrupted and broke the heat with assistance of my non-
fighting friend. Both of them did not became best friends but at least they did not fight which
was a major incident that cited that I have developed a good learning skill and in the process
an adequate verbal communication.
The simplest and general example citing my reading skill in documenting an
academic document is the discussed assignment. In the discussed task I have completed three
portfolios and the fourth is being documented in an academic approach. From annotated
bibliography to reflective writing all the skills I learnt through reading the course resource
material are used. Additionally, the annotated bibliography presented as part of portfolio 1, is
reference to my reading skills and development off academic document.
The example can be considered as an example where me and my friend acted as a
team to break the fight. The example can also be considered as the example for my
interpersonal skill. In the deemed scenario, I through my interpersonal skill and teamwork
broke a fight from happening.

While documenting the annotated bibliography on the 3D printing, I read through a
lot of articles to select the most appropriate journal and in the process I learnt a lot about the
norms (legal, ethical and others) that are associated with the ICT.
The university we are part of holds host to diverse cultural individuals and for most of
the task that I underwent I had to communicate where my diversity & intercultural
competency skills assisted.
Video conferencing tool such as skype and other are the communication and
collaborative tool that I learnt in COIT20249. The organisations can make use of it for remote
meetings.
Information literacy skills were of great assistance that enabled me to devise a
thinking in evaluation of the ICT. Annotated bibliography and 3D printer are the example.
Part B
When enrolled in the course my focus was on the “communication of ideas effectively
both verbally and in written form using appropriate language effectively both verbally and in
written form using appropriate language”. It was because communication is one of the most
prominent need of the development because those who holds most disruptive ideas and lacks
communication quality faces failure because they cannot make other people who are capable
of assisting them in implementing the idea understand the idea. The failed attempt to
communicate the idea leads to wasting of the idea which is undesirable for everyone. My
perception about the vitality of the communication skill are still intact and the reason behind
it is the practical examples that I witnessed or was a part. Hence, I would say that
communication skills are one of the most vital skill and I have successfully learnt them
through COIT20249.
