Professional skills are those skills as well as abilities that can help an individual to get
success in its job role. It describes personality trait, habit or the ability that favourably impacts
the performance within the workplace. Academic skills are those skills or approaches that are
applied to the learning process of a learner and are considered as an array that tackles the process
of taking, arranging and retaining new information. In this portfolio, there will be identification
and reflection on approaches of personal learning and development (Cotronei-Baird, 2020).
Along with it, there will be identification of transferrable skills that already developed or would
like to develop during academic, personal and professional life. Furthermore, personal
development and action plan are also going to be discussed in this portfolio along with a CV.
MAIN BODY
Self-reflection on personal learning and development, and the transferable
skills
Identification and reflection on my approach to personal learning and development
The process of reflecting is the deliberate consideration of examining and thinking in a critical
way regarding the experiences, emotions, attitudes as well as reactions and then explaining and
analysing them in order to get benefits. My learning has been in constant flux during this
academic module and especially thanks to the newly learned and acquired skills that I have
adopted while studying this module. Since, the beginning of the module, I have learnt of
different theories and analysis that can provide assistance to me in understanding myself and
engaged into other topics by conducting in-depth analysis that can benefit me immensely in the
future (Gamble and et.al, 2020). These theories have enabled me to reflect on my learning and
the skills that can make me stand out and hold me back.
The model of SWOT Analysis helps me in increasing my abilities to identify as well as
eliminate any weaknesses and threats I presently have or I am expose to so that I can enhance my
existing strengths and opportunities. I have created a table below which describes what my
existing strengths are and weaknesses along with my current opportunities I should think of that
can lead to my accomplishment of long-term goals and progress. By conducting SWOT
Analysis, I am able to identify what are the aspects in my life that requires change.

Strengths Weaknesses
My strength is that I have patience and
stand out from the crowd with my
calmness.
I am good at working under pressure.
I am creative and like inspiring other
people with my ideas.
I tend to overthink at times that can
push me back with my current affairs.
Although, I am good at under
pressure, yet I sometimes tend to leave
my work for the last minute that can
be bad time-management as well as
leave me more stressed.
Opportunities Threats
Internships for the business students in
the summer break are great
opportunity for me.
Using internet network for gaining
insights into my career goals are
another opportunity that would help
me in staying ahead in this
competitive world.
It can be a threat for me that people
who have more experience and
confidence in themselves can be
potential competitors for me.
Being an introvert person can hinder
my good attributes to others.
Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed by attending this module
Transferrable skills are those skills as well as abilities that are relevant and helpful across
different areas of life like academic, personal and professional. By attending this existing
module, I have learnt various kinds of transferrable skills that are helping me and would also
facilitate me in my future time (Konstantinou and Miller, 2020). In this module, I have
developed communication skills, time management skills, writing skills, summarising skills,
researching skills, etc. which have been evolved through experiencing different situations within
my life. Effective communication skills helped me in expressing and sharing my views and
information to other people in such a way that made them understandable. Time management
skills facilitated me in managing my daily routine activities within a specific period of time.
With the help of this skill, I was able to save my time and energy from getting wasted and also
helped me in my study.

Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies, personal life and the workplace
Not only above mentioned transferrable skills are enough for me to stand out but also I
would like to develop some more skills that would helped me in making my future effective and
bright. The skills that I would like to develop are team working skills, problem-solving skills,
decision-making skills, leadership skills, and many more.
As per my knowledge within HR field, I recognise that profession of HR can give me
various opportunities that would provide assistance to me in making my successful future (Lin
and Magnuson, 2018). I completed my graduation in business management and within this
course I had learnt what kinds of skills and knowledge are required in this field for monitoring
and managing human resources effectively within an organisation. I also analysed that this field
requires a lot of skills such as leadership, analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving,
managerial, active listening and many more. I evaluated that I have potential skills to make my
career within the respective field as I participated in many programs where I can increase my
knowledge, skills and abilities related to this sector. While participating the role of HR in many
plays of school and university, I observed that my communication and leading skills was not
good. I also noticed that I was lacking in the skills of problem-solving and teamwork. For
enhancing these skills within me, I started interacting with other people because these skills are
highly required not only in HR but also in many other fields. I also identified some weaknesses
within me that created problems for me in making my career successful (Mitic and Okahana,
2021). So, I had also worked upon these skills that also facilitate in removing hazards related to
this skill in my future career.
