INTRODUCTION
For an employee it is very important to build the reflective journal in order to analyse their
current performance within the workplace thereby finding the weaknesses that are required to be
mitigated for the better performance and in order to improve their skills (Portman, 2020).
Reflective journal is a self assessment of current work in progress which essentially is an
opportunity for the learning experience in order to identify the personal experience and learning
which leads to increasing in a critical thinking to represent individual’s preferred learning style
and independent research focus. The reflective journal that will focus on the performance of
current employment open employer and also analyse the principles of organisational theory by
identifying the strengths achievements and experience during the work area there by highlighting
career and progression plan, skill audit, self appraisal and action planning and skills development
record.

Career and Progression Plan
The career progression plan is a process by which employee or staff member of an organisation
undergo into an advanced action plan to improve their occupational status for achieving career
growth and success (Bhopal, 2020).
I have decided to develop my Career development plan in order to improve my employability
skills and create a deeper awareness related to my chosen field of employment in order to grab
future opportunities in the field of carpentry. Firstly I will recognise my abilities in order to make
sure that whether I am ready for career and progression plan the analysing my underperforming
employability skills so that I can get a benefit from the improvement plan to enhance my
employability skills for which I will recognise my strengths and weaknesses. Analyse that I have
good measurement skills but lack in calculating skills therefore I need to improve my
mathematical skills in order to accurately perform my carpentry in future job role. I will
determine my short term and long term career goals which are smart goals. Because gods must
be realistic so that I could challenge myself to attain those objectives and feel confident after
reaching my target of accomplishing great mathematical skills for my carpentry career. After
accomplishing my short term and long term goals I will build my milestone which is essential to
move forward in the career and progression plan because their time bounded in help me to

evaluate the performance at the time a promotions or the feedbacks (Van Praag and et. al., 2017).
After the 7 years of experience in FDP during the promotions and feedbacks utilise the self
appraisal process so that I can create a bridge between my actual performance and the
expectations set assessment help me in creating a medium to improve my interpersonal skills and
also provide me a chance to self analyse myself in order to maintain healthy work process. I self
reviewed my 7 years of performance and learning they were considering the amount of bonus
and appraisal I could have during the time of promotion I listed all my previous years’
accomplishments thereby brainstorming the key achievements that can lead to promotions. Also
self appraised main challenges which I have overcome during the course of action so that they
can be highlighted as my learning capabilities by making me proud and confident of myself in
