Reflective Learning Journal: Enhancing Skills and Development

This reflective learning journal documents the student's learning journey across several weeks, focusing on key skills development. Each week addresses a different topic, including motivation, leadership, employee engagement, business functions, business communication, human resource management, marketing, business types, finance, and customer service. The journal entries detail the skills acquired each week, such as communication, analytical, decision-making, and time management skills, along with plans for further development through activities like reading books, exploring data, taking management courses, and practicing communication. The journal also incorporates academic sources to support the reflections and learning processes. Desklib offers a platform for students to access this and other solved assignments.

Introduction:
Reflective learner basically is a learning process which involves effective learning
and many more. It help an individual in becoming a active earner by asking more
and more questions in the class and also improves his thinking process by solving
different types of problem with their new ideas.
Week 1

develop these skills.
In this session we discussed about the different strategies and theories related to the
motivation. We discussed about the various motivational strategies and theories like incentive
theory, McClellan-d's need theory, competency theory, expectancy theory, Maslow's hierarchy
needs theory and many more. In this session I have develop my communication skill as well as
politeness with in me(Chai and et .al., 2019) . These skill help me to become successful
person in life. I planned to developed theses motivational skill with in me by continuing
reviewing my goals and progress, by always remain positive, remains always in positive
surroundings and many more. Always remain motivated help me to achieve all my goal and
objective in a very effective manner.
Week 2

develop these skills.
In this session we discussed about the leadership. We discussed about the different types of
leadership style like democratic leadership style, autocratic leadership style and many more.
This discussion help me in improving my productivity and efficiency. The development of this
skill within me help me to easily communicate with my team members and because of this my
communication skill is also become strong(Colthorpe and et .al., 2018) .While discussing the
leadership style this also help me in improving skill and this make me a effective speaker as
well as effective learner . I have plan to develop this quality within my by performing all the
task in well disciplined manner, by taking more projects, by encourage other people, by
motivating my teammates, starts solving conflicts and many more.
Week 3

develop these skills.
In this session we learn about the employee engagement. This is basically that how to create a
good environment with in the workplace. We discussed abut the different types of employment
engagement strategies like engage across different channels, reward engagement strategy,
good feedback strategies and many more(Cunliffe and Easterby-Smith, 2017). While
discussing all these strategies I have develop so many skills with in me like analytical skills,
communications skills, decision making skills and more. These skill not only help me in setting
all my objectives but also help me achieving all my objectives in a very effective manner. I have

planned to develop these skill with in me by reading more and more books and exploring more
data by reading on different sources.
Week 4

develop these skills.
In this session I learned about the different business functions, what are the role and
responsibilities of different function and their importance. We discussed about the different
business functions or department like marketing, finance, human resource department,
production function and may more(Jenkins and et. al., 2017). I learned that these business
function plays a very important role for an organisation to achieve a successful position in the
market. While discussing on different business function I have develop so many skills within me
like time management skill, decision making skill, reading skills and many more. I also learnt
that how all these department are interrelated or interconnected with each other and their
importance in relation to the success of the company. I have planned to develop these skill with
in me by doing a management course like MBA.
Week 5

In this session we discussed about the Business communications and its types. Basically
business communication is a process which help in communicating and sharing the information
within and outside the organisation. I also learn about its type like upward, downward,external
and lateral. I learned that business communication play a very important role in smooth
functioning of the business and the different department. While discussing on the business
communication I have learned interpersonal skill and management skill. I planed to develop
theses skill within me by focussing on making relation with the people, by making more contact,
by becoming more socialized and many more (Luo, Murray and Crompton, 2017) . These
contact help me in getting job and also help me switching my job.
Week 6

In this session I learned about the human resource management and their strategies. Basically
human resource department is that part of the business which are engaged in recruiting the
workforce for the company. I also learned about the different types of the human resource
strategies like loyal solider, bargain labourer, free agent and committed expert(Minocha,
Tudor, and Tilling, 2017) . I learned that these strategies play a very important role in
developing a healthy environment environment within the work place. While discussing and
learning about the business communication I have develop so many skill like active listing skills
and problem solving skills. I have planned to develop these skill with in my by more focusing on
expressing my views in front of the my teammates, classmates and my family member.

In this session we discussed about the marketing and the different tolls of marketing. Basically
marketing is a process which are used by the organisation in order to promote the brand and
business in the market. I also learned about the different marketing tools and techniques like
marketing mix tool and many more(Peña‐Ayala, 2018) . I have learned that these tools help
the organisation in order to promote their goods and services into the market and also help
them in communication with the customer. While discussing on the marketing tools and
techniques I have develop so may skills like analytical thinking and it also help me increasing
my knowledge base. I planned to develop these skill with in me by reading more books on
marketing through different types of sources.

In this session we discussed about the different types of business and their organisational
structure. Business can be done by an individual or by the group of individuals. Different types
of business are sole proprietorship, partnership, company, limited liability company and many
more. I have learned that business can be done in different manner. While discussing on the
different types of business I have develop so many skills with in me like I increase my
knowledge in relation to the different types of business (Shen and Ho, 2020). I have planed to
develop these skills within me by focussing on more on the getting and grabbing knowledge
about the business and their structures from different sources.

In this session we discussed about the role of finance department and the availability of
different sources of generating fund from market. Basically finance department of the company
generally deals with all the transaction which is related to money. I also learned that their are
different types of sources available in the market to raise fund (Spindler and Spindler, 2020) .
While discussing on the role of finance department I have develop so many skills like improving
mathematical skills, time management skills and many more. I have planned to develop these
skills within me by setting up small target for myself and and then them in specified of time.

In this session we discussed about the role customer's service department in an organisation.
Basically these are the face of the company(Fletcher, 2018). They represent the company.
This department play a very big role in developing a good image in the heart and mind of the

consumer. I have so many skill while discussing on the customer service department like
communication skills and problem solving skill and many more. I have planed to develop these
skill within me by taking English classes on regular basis and by communicating with my
friends and my family member in English.
