INTRODUCTION
Professional challenge is a kind of a positive activity and is also a great sign of a good
professional practice. This report will discuss the kind of the professional challenge, the reason
for the selection of the kind of professional challenge, preparation of the professional challenge,
the impact of the professional challenge on the professional practice, the skills acquired at the
time of the professional challenge, identification of the gaps in the knowledge of the skills and
the values learnt from that professional challenge (Lai and Stacchezzini, 2021).
MAIN BODY
1. Professional Challenge
A process operator is mainly accountable for multiple tasks beginning from the manual
labour to the complicated and complex machine operators in the smaller companies or being
accountable for the management of one particular process in the bigger firms. The professional
challenge which is being included in this is that the process operator have to wear different hats,
implement the myriad duties and also acquire multiple responsibilities and also they are being
given very limited amount of the time. Although, the main responsibility of the process operator
is making the process basically in the manufacturing industries. Anything which comes in their
way of making the product is regarded as a headache and also a challenge. The quality system
which are being used is easy to use or else it will create problem then. Positive experience arises
when the quality professionals find when using the intelligence software system. Another main
challenge is that the system should be made error proof and quick in order to perform the job in a
fast and effective manner (Schmidt and Lawrence, 2020). The modern quality intelligence
software which is based on SPC can acknowledge every need and make sure there is an effective
operator engagement in the industry.
2. Reason for the selection of the professional challenge
The process operator are required to work in harsh and sometimes very extreme
conditions and to work in the plants and the factories which includes the noise, chemicals and
dust. The process operator also has big responsibility as they have to manage all the processes of
the business which at the end create an influence on the success of the organisation. The reason
for selecting this particular professional challenge is because it assist in the promotion of the
growth of the career, an increased network of the people increased because of selecting this
specific professional challenge and it also helped in getting involved with the new and the latest

tasks and the responsibilities. The professional challenge also opened up the opportunity for the
continuous learning. Along with various professional challenges, there also comes the benefits of
the job role that of the process operator as this job role includes the work of knowing about the
process from all over, the process operator is needed to be well identified and should have a large
network in every team in the process. Although the function of this role comes with a lot of work
and responsibilities but a process operator does not try to control from the top level but manages
everything in a very collegial way (Carpenter and Harvey, 2020).
3. Preparation for the professional challenges
It became difficult to keep up with the dates and with the modifications that happened in
the field of the technology that converted into the production sector. In recent times, the trend is
mainly for the production and technology and to try to combine these both transformations. The
most complicated part of performing in this job role is the sharing starting from the top position
in the process area of production to the area of the operations. The role of the process operator is
to create this bridge which being an important aspect in the challenge of creating technology an
assisting element in the process of operations. The process operator needed to follow the latest
trends in the technology and develop more innovative ways for the improvement in the
production process. Although, the list of the necessary things do not end here. As an experienced
process operator would say that receiving a green signal for executing the latest technology is
only single piece of the puzzle but the main challenge arrives in teaching others how to use the
technology and creating an impact on their openness to alteration (Hughes and Byrom, 2019).
4. Impact on the professional practice
In the cost cutting working group, people who were in the management department gave
instructions and ideas on the reduction of costs which was somehow not correct and ultimately it
became unsatisfactory because everyone was willing to save the other. The major impact which
was created that was a program of the cost reduction was initiated in a particular area which was
led as a good example. The costs were managed to be reduced up to 20 percent but unfortunately
the cost cutting joint program did not prove out to be successful. In some of the areas where the
job role is not able to fulfil the potential like for the management team do not have enough
concern about the job function (Carpenter and Harvey, 2019). Also, if the process operator do
not comprehend about their competencies, responsibilities and are not accountable for the
improvements in the process or if they are not the experienced executives. Other issues consists

that if the structure of the organisation is too much complicated for the accommodation of the job
function and at the end, if the employees are given more functions instead of the processes.
5. Skills learnt during professional challenge
The process operator generally acquired some of the skills at the professional level for the
management and improvement the combination of the processes that the company requires in
order to function. Additional skills such as monitoring the production quality, conducting the
safety inspections and creating process improvement projects. It was required to coordinate all
the resources which are needed for the execution and the process control at the central level.
Increased customer satisfaction and improved productivity are the main goals of the process
oriented organisation. Coordination of the major and minor activities and the tasks at all the
process levels were the main skills acquired at the time of professional challenge. For the
management of the process and the process optimizations on a consistent basis for giving the
effective outcome of the work is also one of the important skills which were learnt. Improved
communication and the leadership skills along with the management of the performance in the
business processes are the necessary skills gained at the time of the professional challenge
(Alfaiz, 2018).
6. Identification of the gaps in the knowledge or skills during the professional challenge
There were many gaps in the knowledge and also the skills at the time of the professional
challenge which the gaps in the critical thinking and problem solving, giving attention to the
detail, the communication skills, leadership skills, teamwork and many more. The skill gap is
generally known as the difference between the skills that are required to perform a specific job
role and those skills which are already available;e and that already exists. For many businesses
the skill gap creates very much impact such as loss in the productivity, an increased rate in the
turnover of the staff, low level of the employee morale, low quantity of the work, not being able
to expand the business activities and decrease in the amount of the revenue. They all become the
damaging factors in the potential future and can eventually lead the companies to not able to
complete the demands of the customer be it offering of the services or the products (Tareva and
Tarev, 2018). The skill gap is generally created because of the technology, education, training
and most importantly the implementation of the professional challenge on the individual. The
skill gap is the division between the skills that the employer expect from their employees to

acquire in them and that the the individuals who are looking for the jobs actually having those
skills.
7. Importance of the professional challenge
The professional challenge is a kind of the positive activity and can be considered as an
element of good professional practice for an effective and healthy company. Being
professionally challenged is not a kind of a criticism of the professional capabilities of a person
rather it is a kind of a professional accountability. In this context, it is more about the decisions
that are challenging. There were multiple values which were being inculcated while handling the
professional challenge and those values were that it helps in the promotion of the growth of the
career, reaching out to the multiple networks with the help of the new people, the professional
challenge also helped in the engagement in the latest tasks and the responsibilities and also it
opened up the chances for the continuous learning. Evaluating on a regular basis, thinking about
the role of the job and having an open and real conversation which led to the chances of the
increase in the professional challenge (Huston, 2021).
