This report will assist in better analysis g the importance of skills & personal development
plan. Skills will play a crucial role in the growth and development of an individual. As it will
assist in build a strong attitude and personality in a person. Skills refers to the ability or talent
that help a person to successfully complete a task. While on the other hand personal development
plan refers to a process which will assist an individual to create an action plan which is based on
the skills that is required to develop (Patrão and et. al. 2020). It will assist an individual to
become aware of skills that they have and help them to achieve further skills. This report will
include the concept of personal and professional development. Other than this it will include the
values of short, medium & long-term goals. This report will include the values of a personal
development plan and include a PDP plan.

Define personal and professional development
For achieving higher growth and success of an individual both the personal and
professional development are very important. It is analysis that for effectively developing the
learning and develop himself with the help of career planning both personal & professional
development is important (Abuzaid and et. al. 2021). Here professional development refers to the
process of instructor developing and effectively improving their skills for effectively meet the
needs for a particular role. Professional development will play an essential role in the life of an
individual as it will expand their knowledge base and also it will boosts confidence and
credibility. It is analysis that through professional development an individual will able to achieve
higher confidence in their work. This concept will define that it will include all those skills
which are required by an individual for developing a bright future. While on the other hand
personal development will only focus on developing the own skills and knowledge. Personal
development will play an essential role for an individual self-development and self-
improvement. Personal development will define an individual what skills they need to develop
for building their own growth and success. It is analysis that both the personal skills and
professional skills development is very important for the overall growth of an individual. It is
analysis that by developing both the skills an individual is able to achieve competitive advantage

or able to create a growing path for their future. Both the personal and professional skills
development will start from the university level as because this is the place where students will
learn about their career. It is analysis that university is the first stage from where they can take
the first step toward professional development and career goal. This is the real place from where
they will get a chance to build an attractive personality and learn more about their career path.
From above discussion it is analysis that both the personal and professional development will
gives a competitive edge to an individual in a crowded workforce and help an individual to
differentiate itself from other people. Development of personal and professional skills will help
an individual to better analysis the qualities and capabilities that he/she will have. It is analysis
that development of both personal and professional skills will provide various future growth
opportunity to an individual (Matthews and Matthews, 2019).
Explain the values of short-term goals, with personal examples
Short-term goal refers to the type of goal which is achieved by an individual in very near
time. Here near time will defined as the period of some days, a weak and may be a month (Hall
and Pountney, 2019). This type of goal are set by an individual to achieve something in a very
short period. This type of goal will assist an individual to take an effective step towards the long-
term plan. It is analysis that short term goal are equally essential as the long term plan for growth
and success of an individual. This type of goal will provide a sense of achievement too n
individual, so it is very important for them to create an effective short term goal.
Value of short term plan
It is analysis that short term goals will help an individual to effectively achieve higher
growth & success. It is consider as the first step which is taken by them towards the achievement
of long- term goal (Scott and Shelton, 2019). It is analysis that for effectively start the journey
towards the goal it is important to first start it with short-term goal. This type of goal will assist
in bringing new change in the life of a student or individual. Various personal examples related
to this type of goals are mention below:

I will develop my time management skills with the use of 4D time management skill I am
able to effectively manage my work and successfully achieve the task within the specific
time period. Other than this my short term plan is to read more and more books on personal
and professional development which will assist me in developing my skills that are very
essential for my carer growth. Other than this I will create a morning routine which will
assist me to effectively plan my whole day activity. I am able to achieve this goal by
following the twenty one day routine. As it will define that when a person do something for
continuously twenty one days than it will become a habit. I realise that my short term goals
will provide consistency in my life and also bring new change in my life. For the continuous
growth and development this type of goals will play an essential role.
Explain the value of medium-term goals, with personal example
It refers to a type of goal which is set by an individual and try to achieve it within two or
more months (Kupolati and Boluwaduro, 2018). This type of goal ate set by an individual after
successfully achieve the short term goal or in other words this type of goals are little bit large
then the short term goal. It is analysis that effectively achieving the short-term and long term
goal will help an individual to focus on long-term goal. Medium-term goal is exist between short
term & long term.
Value of medium-term goal
This type of goal will assist an individual to effectively move towards the achievement of
long term goal. It will assist an individual to effectively manage and plan the things that will help
them in enhancing their skills and knowledge (Mehdiyev, and et. al. 2021). It is analysis that
when a student will successfully achieve the short-term plan then he/she will be motivated
towards achievement of medium term plan. It is consider as the next step of setting long-term
plan. Various personal examples of this type of goals are mention below:
Develop the good presentation skills with the help of regular attending ICT online
classes.
Develop an effective communication skills through regular practicing in group
discussion.
Effectively developed a strong leadership skills by doing work as a volunteer in a team.
I will develop my presentation which will assist me in improving my overall performance
and also enhance my confidence level. My other medium term goal is developing my

communication skills. By developing this skill I am able to effectively communicate my
feeling and information to other person without any hesitation. Other than this my skill that I
will develop in my medium term plan is effective leadership skills. It will provide better
future growth opportunity in my professional life.
Discuss the value of long-term goals, with the help of example.
Long term goal refers to the plan and any activity that an individual wants to do in the
future. It will play an essential role for a successful career (Rees, and et. al., 2020). In other
words long term plan is something that an individual wants to accomplish in the future. This type
of goal will require an effective planning and time. This is not something that an individual will
do in a week or even in a year. Long-term goals are usually at least several years away. Both the
short-term and medium term goal will play an essential role in successfully achieving the long
term goal.
Value of long-term goal
It is analysis that long term goal will include a good of time & also effectively plan the
daily activity in order to achieve the final goal (Toncheva-Zlatkova, 2020). This type of goal will
play an essential role in self-improvement. It will assist in shape an effective direction of an
individual lives and carer. Various personal example of long-term goal are mention below:
To enhance the problem solving skills through effective training and online workshops.
To develop the decision making skills by participating in the process on decision making.
To enhance the managerial skill through regular practice and gain knowledge through
different books and online course.
I realise that my long term plan will assist me to develop a strong and better carer. My long
term goal is to become a good manage in an reputed company and for that I will require to
develop various skills and that are developing the problem solving skills, decision making skills
and managerial skills. I will join various online workshop and online classes in order to develop
my skills. This skills are not achieved in a day or weak I will require a lot of time as because it
will achieve through regular training and years of experience.

become aware about his/her skills that they will have. It will help in better identifying the skills
