INTRODUCTION
In an academic life, students have facing lots of issues related to the skills and
development. Skills are important in academic life either in schools or in universities.
Development of the skills in a student, help them a lot in facing issues related to the career or
higher studies. Skills gives the ability to think in new and innovative ways, help in recognizing
the impacts of their actions and make them capable of taking their responsibilities rather than
blaming others (Bayındır and Ural, 2016). Communication skills build the confidence in a
student's life with the help of participating in presentation or taking part in debates. There are
three main skills in student's academic life which improve their coordination and build their
confidence i.e. note-taking skills, team work skills and presentation skills. These skills are very
important aspect for the growth of a student in their academic life. Note-taking skills help the
students in easy learning, making high concentration level in the class. Team work skills develop
the coordination and management skills in a student. And presentation skills help to improve
communication skills and decrease the hesitation level in a student. All these skills help a student
to learn more easily and develop their inter personal skills.

Note taking skills is the important part in students academic life as note taking or making
is a very crucial aspects for a students its seems boring and monotonous. But in reality it helps a
student to actively taking part in the class, better understanding during the class as well as after
the class. Good note-taking improve the comprehensive skills, time management ability and
make you an attentive student. After the class, these notes help in making preparations for the
exams. It is not compulsory to write every thing in detailed during the class, to save the time and
manage it in other works just write what is important.
The knowledge which is gained from OHSE classes, gives the wide view in regarding of
note-taking skills. Just like how to make note taking properly by containing proper sources,
heading, maintaining key words, mnemonic triggers and making connections (Cottrell, 2019).
Following are the ways by which note-taking can be improved:
Preview of the assignment or text before the lecture and Briefly explanation of the topic
covered during the class.

Keep organized the notes, do not jumble the notes while writing, it can be done by
choosing an organised format and use that every day.
Time management is also help in start your notes by proper planning and in organised
way(Edonkumoh, Nwachukwu and Emmanuel 2015).
There are different form of note-taking, as there is not a prescribed format for not-taking
but there are some defined structures and style which students can be used.
Here are few types of format of note-taking, that are explained below:
Cornell notes: That type of style includes the sections like course detail, date, important
questions, main points, notes and summary.
Linear notes: These type includes the very basic design by including only points or
numbering like One, Two, Three etc. This is actually a mind map technique.
Concept maps: It includes a visual view of a good content in a proper order or steps.
These knowledge can be used in making home assignment, class-tests and in academic
exams. I developed these skills by making proper notes, minimizing the mistakes while writing
notes, by taking follow up after the class with the other students.
Presentation skills
Presentation skills are that skills which are helping in presenting an effective and
engaging preventative ideas to the audience. A presentation includes, design of the slides,
confident voice, and your gesture. For being a preventative person, most needed thing is
communication skill, and confident profile. Most important thing in presenting your presentation
is focused audience, smart ideology, make a eye contact with the audience.
The information I have gained through the OHSE classes, includes how to prepare the
presentation, how to overcome your fear, how to present in front of audience etc. the important
aspect is make an attractive structure. A structure provides the important information which
make a clear vision regarding your presentation.
The process for presenting your slides by a natural structure includes:
Purpose: Purpose of your file must be clear and effective so that it can convey the
audience easily (Eliöz, 2016).
Audience assessment: Pre-assessment of the audience means getting the details of
audience like characteristics, knowledge, and need of the audience. That is called “know
your audience”.

Making bridges: This is also known as Hooks (Kim, Raza and Seidman, 2019). Which
means designing your presentation in the most appropriate way.

It is connect by the bridges. Closing your presentation: Final impression is the most effective impression to the
audience. Connecting back to the purpose is very important in closing the presentation.
10-20-30 Rule:
10 Slides: Always having a limit of 10 slides. Which help to managing the cognitive load
to your audience.
20 Minutes: By giving limits to your presentation, helping a lot to save time of yours and
the precious audience.
30 font size: Obviously, size is dependent on the size and nature of the room and screen
size. Presentation must be visible to the audience without any problem.
All these knowledge which is given us in class is can be used in making class-room presentation
and making slides for representing your institution. I can develop my presentation skills by
practice, transfer nervous energy into enthusiasm, being attentive while other's presentation, take
consultation from the guide and being an entertaining person.
Critical thinking and academic credibility
Critical thinking ability used in evaluating the quality of the presentation, and improving
your team work skills. And Credibility means how you represent your presentation and how you
are maintain your team. Credibility shows that how much you are a trust worthy person. Factors
which includes the critical thinking aspects are always thinks before action or making decision
either on individual bases or in group (Lerman, 2017).
Through the classes I have taken in OHSE classes, I come to the conclusion about how
much these critical thinking and academic credibility is important for team work management.
And how these skills help in improving your management techniques and improve the
techniques by giving the solutions to the problem.

managing them as per need, all comes in critical thinking. It also help in evaluating yourself, and
finding the issues and features in your personality (Little, Swangler and Akin-Little, 2017).
All the above knowledge about critical thinking and academic credibility is can be used
by mine in, evaluating myself, while taking decisions, and during the taking steps for improving
my skills. These can be improved by doing proper research, always be fare and true in getting
information related to my assignment, by avoiding oversimplification, planning for future and
lastly defining my approaches. And for increase credibility, I improve my strength and eliminate
personal bias and providing relevant facts.
Analysis of performance
Analysis of performance defines the overall performance review of a student while he
doing assignment, presentation, general behaviour and studies.

Assignments can be analysed by dividing the segments in different parts and individual
marks on each part of assignment (Moser and Reikerås, 2016).
Strengths:
It enhance the creativity level of a student while doing an assignment, and evaluating my
skills through critical thinking.
It helps in increasing our technical knowledge and increase learning ability, and improve
the collaboration skills in group.
Help in increase the writing skills, which also help in academic exams. And improve the
overall result of the students.
Weaknesses:

It is a time consuming process and also difficult in evaluating the performances of an
individual basis.
It has undefined nature, as most of the students complete their assignment due to the
desire of the instructor or they only needs marks.
Students are not getting the main reason or purpose of doing their assignment. They just

Presentation

Strengths:

decrease the hiding personality of a student. Self awareness and story telling is the ability which is increased in mine by doing

If a student is introvert, than he/she must be not get the comfortable in presenting the
presentation in front of everyone.
Some students talk to fast, that the other people can't understand what they are actually
wants to say.
Can't communicate with the others on the topic which they want or can say that the
students can't convey their messages to the other peer members in the class-room.
General behaviours and attitude
The behaviour and attitude of a student is the major aspect by which their performance
can be analysis. How a student connect with the other students and teachers. What are the
feedbacks provided by the others to them, all these aspects help in analysing the performance of
the student.
Strengths:
Positive attitude gives the wisdom, creativity, curiosity and open minded to a student.
This improves the students motivation.

information are the responsibility of a teacher. If they don't know about students prospective
areas than it will affect the student and they are not able to develop themselves as they have to.
With these development skills, learning related to understanding of the studies, which collected
from texting and lectures. Note-taking help in building up the comprehensive ability and helpful
in time management efficiency. While team skills help in making a coordination and
management with the overall team members and also with the supervisor or guide of the team.
And in last presentations skills help in increasing your communication skills and gives the high
confidence level through practising more in present the slides and introducing your topic in front
of your other peer members and teacher in the class.
