INTRODUCTION
Employability skills are core skills and special characteristics that allow an person to
work effectively with other, adoptable to every environment and make them able to solve
problems. It includes skills that enable worker to make effective decisions and develop personal
and professional skills in an employee(Zacher, 2014). Travelodge hotel is an private organisation
operates in hospitality sector and is the third largest hotel in United Kingdom. Main objective of
this report is to measure the effectiveness of employees and improving their performance by
encouraging them using various motivational technique. It also includes strategies for time
management and report also includes methods to solve the issues present in Travelodge hotel.
TASK 1
1.1 Develop a set of own responsibility and performance objectives of HR manager
For achieving performance objective, it is essential for an employee to set targets that
provide an sense of accomplishment in them which motivate them to achieve their goals. HR
manager have following responsibilities in Travelodge Hotel:
Responsibility:- Orientation programs for employees:- Manager need to schedule an orientation
programs that help employees to get concise and accurate information about job and
company. It also help an employee to get adopted to the organisation's environment. Development of employees:- Manager need to recruit right candidates and develop their
inter personal skills by providing proper training to them(Wilkinson, Whitehead and
Ritchie 2014) . Motivational programs for employees:- HR should some motivational programs in order
to motive their employees to perform their task efficiently and achieve their objectives. Provide guidelines:- manager must provide guideline and advices to their employees to
perform their tasks more efficiently. Performance appraisal:- HR manager has an responsibility to regularly evaluate the
performance of the employees and provide them with suggestions to improve their
performance and working ability.

performance objective so manager must have good communication skills. HR manager is
the one who use various communication channels to communicate with other employees.

business operations to achieve maximum profit and competitive advantage in the market over
their rivalry. One of the main role play by human resource is to manage employees and their
actions at workplace so company can achieve its set goal and at the same time can utilise all its

method followed by this hotel. They must also focus on developing an method in which
employees are invited to speak about their problems that they are facing during working. Proper
step must be take in order to solve the issues of employees.
Rewards, promotions, praises, and appreciations must be provided to employees over
their performance to keep them motivated toward their job. Both financial and non financial
reward can be use by manager to encourage workers to work well and to maximise their

2014). Authorities must also be delegated so that decisions can be taken on the time when they
are required to perform and to reduce delay in work. Employees should be encourage to take part
in decision making process as this enhance their morale and help in retain them for long time and
this provide competitive benefit to firm. It is very important for manager to formulate an
effective policy to encourage employees to work well. It should be a combination of both
financial and non financial rewards. For increase employee’s contribution in success of entity, it

Motivation is known as the reason or factor behind desires, needs and actions of
individuals. This is the one which is not come from another individual but come from within the
individual. Before motivate an individual, it is very essential for manager to identify the main
elements that encourage an individual as different individual are motivated by different factors.
HR manager of an Travelodge Hotel must motivate his team members to improve the
productivity and also efficiency of staff members. This can be done by using various
motivational technique that will increase the level of job satisfaction among employees and make
them work toward the achievement of company's goal. Travelodge hotel apply following type of
motivational techniques : Financial motivator:- one of the best way to encourage employees to do work is
monetary reward and incentives. Travelodge hotel fixes some targets over the
performance of employees, if they exceed the target then reward are provided to them. Competition:- It is the most effective way of motivating employees. When more than two
people are provided with same tasks in order to compete with one other than their main
aim is to perform better. It can be done using appraisal, praises etc. Recognition:- It is a kind of reward where employees are appreciated for their
performance which develop a positive attitude and satisfaction toward the job as well as
company. This develop a sense of responsibilities among employed to perform work on
time and in most efficient manner. Set goals: This is another technique that can be use to encourage employees to work well.

operation in a dynamic and competitive environment. To solve these problems, following
process is used by Travelodge Hotel : Identify the issue: - To find an effective solution of a problem, it is very important for an
employee to first understand the major issue behind that. The half of the problem is
solved when issues causing them gets identified. Travelodge hotel faces problems like
minimum employee retention and its centralized system; which shows that they doesn't
involve employees in decision making process (Perkins, Grey, and Remmers, 2014).
These problems have a bad impact in the functioning of Hotel as they don't involve
suggestion from employees as they have information about the issues that arise at

activities of company is one of the major issue. This results in employee’s turnover and
directly increase overall business cost. another issue is various conflicts take place at

that can be used to solve the problems. Travelodge Hotel can use following alternatives
such as; for employees- retention manager must provide other benefits like positive
working environment, appreciate their work, provide remunerations and promotion over
their success (Ohme and Zacher, 2015). For improving the functioning of hotel and
avoiding delay in work, manager require to manage a proper line of authority, channel of
communication should be effective to provides suggestions that help in identifying the
cause of poor functioning and they must delegate some authorities to take decisions Evaluate the options :- Manager must evaluate the options to find best possible
alternative that help in solving these issues to reduce the turnover ratio of employees
(Peters, 2014). While evaluating these options, manager must identify positive and
negative outcomes of each aspect and effective or helpful they are in solving above
issues.

act. Appreciative inquiry: The basic function of appreciative inquiry is that a company will
grow in the direction that employees concentrate their attention. If attention is on
problem, then find out the or define the problem and deal with it this results in company
will do great. It is one of the important technique used by firm to solve the complex
issues. The eight discipline methodology: It is one of the essential technology used to solve the
problem and it is design to identify the root cause of the problem. This frames a short
term fix and implemented to solve long term solutions to prevent repeating or recurring
issues. There are 8D which are very famous among manufacturers as it is effective and
easy to teach(Dhar, 2015)Chou, 2014) Under this various statistical techniques and tools

framework for the aim of creating healthy and strong relationship with enterprise. Promotion: Motivation is very necessary for getting over the problem of employees
