CHALLENGES OF STUDYING BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND
THRIVING IN PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
The study of Business management is associated with learning of key areas
required in development and management of business entities.
Entrepreneurship is a skill and its study covers numerous aspects of managing
business operations with great expertise.
Individuals face challenges in understanding market trends and determining
methods of conducting operations.
 Students face difficulties in preparing assignments which involves detailed
research and critical examination of working of an organisation.
 Thriving in professional practices requires high skills and difficulties arise in
development of those skills.
 One of the major difficulty arise in professional practices of business is
acquisition of required funds and capital resources.
 Challenges arises in knowing customer preferences and establishing an effective
operational system.

THE IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE ACADEMIC SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Academic skills are those abilities which are applied in the process of
learning in order to acquire knowledge and gain understanding on a
particular subject.
 These includes writing skills and oral communicative skills, listening
skills, reasoning and mathematical skills along with basic computer skills.
 The development and enhancement of academic skills are important as
lack of such skills makes the learning process inefficient.
 Without development of proper academic skills, a student won't be able to
understand lessons and concepts. These skills are important in order to attain
good grades and complete assignments.

THE IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
DEVELOPMENT
Professional skills are those abilities which are required in order to practice a profession
and to assure success.
The examples of professional skills includes leadership, time-management skills,
organisation, communication and problem solving skills etc. these skills are extremely
relevant in order to successfully manage operations in an organisation.
 An employee should be able to manage time in completion of assigned tasks and to
avoid delays.
 In professional environment, it is important to effectively communicate to superior and
subordinates for the purpose of delegation and other functions.
Problem solving skills are crucial as in professionalism, due to grudges and personal
disappointments quality of work should not be compromised.

IDENTIFICATION OF ONE SKILL THAT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT – PERSONAL SWOT

STRENGTHS
 I possess high observation and analytical skills
which allows me to draw better conclusions.
 I have good research skills which helps in acquiring
knowledge and better understanding of a particular
topic.
WEAKNESSES
 Leadership skills are one of my weaknesses
which reduces efficient performance and
management.
 I lack in communicating effectively which creates
problems in delegation and completion of tasks.
OPPORTUNITY
 I can focus upon enhancing problem solving skills
which will improve my interpersonal relations.
 I can focus upon improving my leadership skills as
it will allow me to secure higher authority.
THREATS
 The tendency of procrastinating events could
results in inefficient and undesirable outcomes.
 The disability to properly express views results in
miscommunication and creates confusion.
One skill that is particularly important, but I am weak at: Strong communicative skills

DETAILED EXAMPLE OF THE ACTIONS THAT WOULD BE TAKEN TO DEVELOP
SKILLS IDENTIFIED AS WEAKNESS IN SWOT ANALYSIS
In order to improve my communication skills, I have developed an action
plan which is explained below:
Short-term: I will start focusing on my soft skills and ability to express
clearly through start conducting effective group communicating sessions.
Medium-term: I will start attending personality development sessions
where emphasis is laid upon improvement of interpersonal skills through
free expression.
Long-term: I will focus upon implementing these skills through working
in areas where I have to communicate with people on regular basis. I will
attend internships in areas of business management where I will be able
to work on different projects and suggest innovative ideas.

SUMMARY
From the respective presentation, it has been summarised that the study of business management is associated
with the development of both academic and professional skills. There are various challenges that are faced by
individuals in studying business managements and apply its concepts in practice. Personal swot analysis of skills
is conducted which helped in identification of lack of one important skill. An action plan is prepared in order to
develop that one particular skill which is extremely crucial.
